It's hard to understand why some people would be offended or angered by this information. Alice is just letting people know what will be considered inappropriate in Italy. She isn't making the rules. If you want to dress exactly the same in Italy as you do at home, go ahead but be prepared for people to stare or frown or even forbid you from entering certain places. There's a very old saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do!"

The problem is many people have lost self respect and respect for others. I am so glad you highlighted some of these things. I have made my mistakes in the past but grateful for videos like these that remind us of 'elegance'. Great channel. Thank you!

I was raised that flip-flops were for the beach and sneakers for the gym My parents never wore jeans, only in the garden. They used to say: only farmers wore jeans in Sicily. I do wear jeans but always elevated with nice shoes and top. No shorts. I've never carried a backpack in my life, not even in school. Great video! 🥰

Perhaps try espadrilles instead of sandal, should be great in the summer. I think for Italian outfit norm, efficiency and practicality is not on the top of priority, but like let's say visual aesthetic is more important. The last time we visited Italy in autumn I bought suede ankle boots for my wife which she loves very much, I didn't want her to wear her trendy sneaker all the time.

Sometimes a shoulder bag adds too much weight on the one shoulder, causing pain and issues. A backpack (even small, designed-well and elegant) provides better weight on both shoulders. So I would also choose comfort and posture-support over style.

A good video but then suddenly she says something that doesn't make sense which is that you can't wear the really short denim cut off shorts , but the implication is that tailored shorts are okay. And then she says shorts are not acceptable and she says she was not allowed to enter a certain building , and she doesn't say the building , so I don't know if it was religious or if it was just a regular building.
I have always lived in the southern states such as south Florida, Texas, southern California and I have developed a repertoire of beautiful shorts. Many of them will be Bermuda shorts, which come to the knee and are beautifully tailored in either khaki or white or denim I also have shorts that are mid- thigh and beautifully made with wonderful pockets. And they come in all the colors you can imagine. I do not wear the really short shorts , though I have some from florida, which I wear there but I would never wear them anywhere else. I would really like some clarification on this because if I go back to Italy, I would like to wear some of my beautiful shorts, but if I am forbidden from entering museums or restaurants, I would be very upset.I have learned more recently that the churches don't seem to care for shorts , and it's probably because people abuse it by wearing the cutoff shorts that she showed as only acceptable for night wear , which I agree. In America , you can wear shorts in Catholic churches, and no one bats an eye , but of course , you don't wear cut offs that barely cover your butt. That is just common sense.
So I'm hoping she can respond to this and explain better.

Right on with the flip flops. They sound stupid. Imagine how dirty your feet get walking around on dirty streets. Nasty. Do not be disrespectful in Churches please.
