  Great.  Brings back memories of those days.  I just received my 75 year Veteran Pin from the Boy Scouts so have done all this, with home-made gear, plus more modern stuff.  But always had the Scouts do it the old way, just so they know how.  Even camped on the Island, on Blackpool harbor in England, that Lord Baden Powell took his first troop to, on the 50th Birthday of his organization. Used old designs on home-made patches and met one of his two surviving Scouts there.  He saw my troop, stopped, and sat on a stool and talked to us over an hour.  We were just a hundred feet from their first camping site, where a display of their tents was set up.  Boys Life photographer was there and moved us down to the display site.  Boys sat in a circle, with me standing near the camp fire, and telling the story of how he started Scouting.  Brrrrr Chills up my spine!

  This is real camping .when i was a young man i camped at deer season in november without a tent i had a old blown down tree that i would put myblanket up against and build a fire 30 in away i slept warmer than at home no matter the weather.i always got a buck that way because i was already in the deers kitchen.great camp setup. Brought back memories

  Sleeping in the open, under the stars really is beautiful.  That stew looked amazing.  Thank you for sharing your experience and stories.
