I use "slap wrist bands", one for each thing that can be forgotten, including "shore power", "awning", "water", "sewer hose", "air vent", etc. As I set up any of these, I "slap" the band onto the steering wheel, where I'm sure to see them before driving off.

Here's a little farm trick I use on my home build trailers!!!<br><br>Get a small rachet strap and a 5gal bucket (or 2) and it will hold down most awnings or tents through a tornado... The shelter fabric won't last tho haha

Can not stress how vital EMS/surge suppressors are so vital. One time encountered a a ground polarity issue.... Sure everything will work BUT at a risk... Notified the camp office immediately and they called in an electrician to fix the issue. If they ever tell you, "It will be fine" don;t trust them. Ground fault causes "hot ground" that can cause "hot" exterior... Touch the trailer and ground can cause a shock to you and potentially cause GROUND FAULT that can short the circuits inside the trailer, with possible fire risk. Be safe GET AN EMS type system for the pole hookup. Good ones cost a few bucks but better than the possible issues caused by not being protected.

One thing that I found that works really well is to put 5+ gallons of water and 2+ cups of automatic dishwasher detergent in each tank. It cleans the tanks and sensors as you drive. I've never had a smell and if my sensors had gotten gunked up they get cleaned off and work again.

Could have mentioned: Always extend and retract slides while the camper is level (i.e., before you hook up). They are designed to operate correctly while the coach is level.

Absolutely a great video. My wife and I have been in motorhomes since 1989 also, I am a commercial truck driver. Many of the points on this RV are absolutely correct. As far as GPS goes, absolutely none of them are perfect. When rolling down the road with 80,000 mi and an extremely long trailer behind me, I have found that every GPS on the road including those that are specifically made for big rigs will get you into trouble. If you're going to a strange area, buy you a paper map and use it to preview the route that your GPS has pointed you toward! This will save you a lot of headache, speaking from experience and more than a million and a half miles in a truck and 200,000 mi in motorhomes

While it's generally safe and recommended to turn off propane tanks and appliances like refrigerators before driving for safety reasons, there aren't specific laws in many areas that explicitly prohibit it, but it's a common safety practice.

Good tips. Our camping friends left their awning out while away & the wind kicked up. The awning broke away & wrapped around one of the A/C units. Yep you guessed it…lost the awning & burned up the A/C unit. Expensive lesson.
