  Machiavelli is really interesting. You can play him where he kinda keeps everyone annoyed with him and he makes money off of “accept” and “reject” proposals, or you can be their best friend and just get a bunch of trade routes, essentially converting Influence into Gold, and then surprise war them. I don’t find him very hard to play against, though. I always keep him in the Acquaintance Zone and keep an army pointed at him 😂

  I think using the extra influence generators is a good idea, because you&apos;re basically turning influence into gold.

  Settling the coast is a tough call. There are many things to consider, trade route access, future wars enabling attacks by sea (both in defense of your city and against it), whether you can fill those surrounding tiles with districts for the palace bonus, food rich coast being in excess if the rest of the land is production poor, enough space for eventual wonders/buildings, etc. It is tough, but for all the right reasons that an interesting game decision should be, and I love that. Great job devs!

  My last run with this dude turned into an all out war with the 4 other civs declaring war on me and was able to trade settlements around turning peace deals. Used most of the influence on city states mostly ignoring the gold bonus, (forgot about it).
