  Good information, but the most challenging part is figuring out which dentist is reliable, talented enough, honest enough. That's the hard part. Learning who isn't acceptable takes allowing them to do procedures. By the time you learn not to use them it's too late. I hate this challenge so much that I have not seen a dentist in 14 years. I simply don't know who to trust. Really it's the same with all in the medical field. Basically, in today's world, there simply is no trust in anyone anymore. Everybody is out to rip off everybody. I know that sounds paranoid, but it's how I have come to see the world.

  I had a horrific root canal in 2003. The dentist didn’t catch it bc she didn’t take a periapical xray. The pain went into my head, neck, & ear. She sent me to an orthodontist who said I needed braces! I went to another dentist & she did the periapical & said I had a double abscess. She called an endo at 5pm & said I needed an emergency root canal. The SOB told me he wouldn’t do it unless I showed up w/ $3000 up front. We explained the banks didn’t open until 9am. He didn’t care. Prior to seeing the original dentist, I had seen another one who put a crown on the tooth. So when I had a 90 min root canal, he had to drill through the crown. I thought I was done but over the last 23yrs whenever I had a periapical, there was a dark spot that no one could identify. I had a caravan & it showed a mucous retention cyst right above that tooth, so I thought that’s what it was. I had some pain in 2012 & saw an endo who, of course said I needed another root canal. & recommended one on a tooth that fractured w/a filling. He was root canal crazy. I said no to both. I did not crown the broken tooth. I’ve lived w/two broken molars (old fillings broke them) for 20yrs. I use coconut oil & black cumin seed oil to keep the areas clean. However, four days ago the original double abscess tooth (that had the crown), dislodged the crown in tact while I was flossing, Everything online said to get to a dentist w/in 30mins. My dentist said I’d be fine & to just save the crown & she’d reattach it when she got back from vacation.She said I’d have no pain or infection bc I had had a root canal on the tooth. Two days in, I started getting horrific pain in my cheek, jaw & ear. I have an appt unfortunately, w/ the Dr who told me I needed to redo the root canal in the tooth I had in 2003 (& the other teeth). After watching this, I don’t want to do it. I think my pain is from severe TMJ. I was told the Dr would just do it after the consult today  but I said I will have to think about it. I’m so afraid bc now I’m 73 & petrified something will go wrong. I’d prefer to just have the area cleaned but his business is to get money to pay for his house & children’s college. I’m so jaded but can’t endure another painful root canal.

  My root canal went wrong. I could feel pressure and discomfort in my gum, from above where the work had been done. I suspect it was a small abscess. One day the pressure suddenly vanished, and then the right side of my face went numb. I freaked out. I had some MSM (water purification drops/oxidiser/ germ killer). I swished with a few drops, and drank a a few too. Within an hour or so the feeling in my face came back. I was passed back and forth from the doctor and dentist. The dentist didn’t want to remove the tooth. Eventually, I’d had enough and pleaded with him to pull it. There were three roots to the tooth, and each had been over drilled and each had what looked like tiny pipe cleaner things protruding out the bottom. I think the tooth was leaking chemicals into my upper gum area, and causing the other issues and infection. It totally messed my energy levels up for six months and I was fit for nothing. I recon it was 2 years before I was back to normal. A similar tooth needed a root canal of my left side, and I refused. I just wanted it out rather than risk the health complications again. I don’t miss either tooth at all. It was definitely the best decision to get them pulled out.  If anyone is thinking of a root canal and crown, they are rather expensive, and come with serious risk of messing up your health.   I worked in military dental clinic for 4 years as an assistant. I agree with you and appreciate your honesty. One thing i noticed while working in the clinic with 16 different dentists at once is that seldom did anyone of them agree with each other ab[ut anything and at the same time they all had a good basis for their arguments 😅. I think in cases with poor hygiene the extraction is generally best. Poor hygiene trumps everything else. I assisted a dentist doing a root canal and he perforated the apex before cleaning with the sodium hydroxide and somehow it got into the patient blood stream. Generally the military dentists were really good dentists in my opinion. I had five pin amalgum build up on a second molar that has lasted me for 41 years now, i am 63 now. Nothing in dentistry is perfect, you roll the dice and take your chances. I am sure implants have drawbacks as well, as do bridges. One being cost as well as the hygiene challenges. What is your opinion regarding fluoride? I have been using a no fluoride no anti bacterial toothpaste for several years and it seems to do well. I also never use mouthwash. I  believe the natural bacteria in our mouth is important for overall metabolic and possibly heart health. Thanks for the video.  😊

  My 1st root canal only lasted 4 years, ended up pulling it. Just had a 2nd root canal which was awful! I was just going to pull it, but the dentist said you should always try and save your teeth and do extraction as a last resort so I did the root canal. I have a feeling I will end up pulling this tooth at some point down the road. I never replaced the tooth I had pulled with an implant, because in my case, I would need a sinus lift which freaked me out. Implants on the upper jaw can be daunting if you don’t have enough bone in the area near the sinuses. There’s nothing straight forward about dental problems. It’s all absolutely terrible.

  When you cut the root off of anything, what happens? It starts to deteriorate, and we're do you think that bacteria go, well to your brain, your heart, eyes. I had two root canals done when I was 15, and I had them removed when I was 59, and I finally felt normal. I was literally going crazy and no one was the wiser. Please never get a root canal.

  "Root Cause" documentary validates all this. It is a must watch if you or anyone you know has a root canal!!  It is on Netflix for 5 bucks. I have a root canal that has been making me sick at different levels for almost 40 years and severely ill the past 5 months. Come to find out it was infected for the past 2 years, possibly longer! All the while, I'm chasing mysterious health issues and missing out on life. Both dentists I saw during the past 4 years, missed it at every regular visit.  I'm getting this demon removed tomorrow! Cheers to knowledge and health!

  Avoid a root canal at all costs as it will cost you. I was put through the mill by a dentist who recommended a root canal then a crown, cost $4000, ended up ten years later throwing it all in the trash and for another $2500 having the tooth pulled. Not to mention the month of unexplained jaw pain in between visits. Another case of the medical industry ripping patients off, NoTrust Anymore.

  Root Canals should be illegal. They do not tell you that the tooth will rot and then you need serious surgery.
