After winning best rock vocal female, donna release a full rock album , the wanderer. The album was critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone.. rockers started to take notice. Springsteen was one of them. He Wrote the song “cover me “ for Donna, he later kept the song and had to hit record. “Protection” was giving instead. Originally intended as a duet with Bruce Springsteen, and for whatever reason she ended up recording it on her own.. post 1979, Donna Summer was a pop/ rock icon.. you keep referring to her as a disco artist lol

Springsteen did it because he felt that the Disco Sucks movement was based on racism and Springsteen hates racism. He wrote Cover Me for Donna Summer, but the record company begged him to release it himself, which is a good thing because it was a huge hit fir him. So, he said he would write another song for Donna Summer, and he did, and that song was protection. I believe Springsteen never performed Protection until after Donna passed away, but dont bet your house on that. I knowvhe has performed it live and people seemed to know it, so perhaps he did perform it before the video I saw. Ask Bruce or a big fan of his.
I am sad to say that I wished i had paid more attention to Springsteen back in the day because he was much more openminded than i was - he is a really good man. His best friend was a very tall Black man. When Springsteen was offered a recording contract hevrefused to sign unlessbtgey signed his best friend... and so thry did. Because of that, his friend made millions. They spent a lot of tine together and loved each other like brothers who had been raised together since birth. Springsteen hated prejudices, hated people who hate other people because of skin color or if someone is gay. He also knew who his audiance was and ehat they thoufht of him. Blue collar, beer drinking & and bar fighting, hardworking people. Not bad people, necessariky, but a little ignorant. So, Springsteen and his best friend, during a concert, would make out for a half a minute, just to make 'em squirm and perhaps think. Springsteen and his bestvfriend are not gaybor bi. Theybjust wanted to make a point.
Springsteen wouldnt have judgrd me, but i judged him and didnt play his music. I did, however, play Donna Summer - my favorite singer of all time. I loved tge song Protection because I grew up hearing rock music - my brother was a big KISS fan and i liked them too. I listen to a bitbif everytging growing up, but by the time i was a junior in high school, I had my preferences and an image ofvwhatbi wanted myblife to be, andvatbtgevage of barely 21, I moved 12 hours away from my family to Hollywood, CA, inspired by the Bad Girls album. I lived within 1/2 a block of Sunset Blvd. (between Stanley Ave. and Poinsettia Place) for approx. 20 years or more. I was one of those Sunset People.

(Putting this out into the universe for Bruce, or if someonebwhonknows him reads this they could tell him...)
Thank you Bruce Springsteen for fighting the good fight for all of the outcasts. You're a stand-up guy, and we love you. We also despise that orange pdf.file tearing down DC and wrecking our reputation globalky as he offends friends, insukts trade partners, causes people to lose their healthcare and can't afford gas or rent, kidnaped a president and first lady, started a war, shot and killed people on boats, and lies more than the devil... That pumpkin president talked smack about The Boss when he got wind of Bruce's political mind and courage to speak out against the erosion creeping up because of the corruption of this pathetic excuse for a president and administration of Epstein buddies, alcoholics, heroin addicts, backward aholes, and brown-nosing fascist-tards.

No, douche narrator. The entire album had no disco song on it. Rock, soul, and jazz, really. Donna had already won a Grammy for best female rock performance, and her voice had an edge to it. The guitar solo was said to be aming the top three best guitar solos if the decade. She also had a full rock & gospel album that was critically acclaimed, andvwon a Grammy in the gospel category (gospel or inspirational - you can look it up too).
By the time she did Protection, on the Quincy Jones album, she was already known within the industry to be capable of singing just about anything, including country - Dolly Parton had a #1 hit called Starting Over Again that was written by Donna abd her husband Bruce Sudano, and Donna performed it a xouplevof times on TV and she sang several country songs, including, Stand by Your Man on EddievRabbit's TV special. Donna entered the arena on horseback, wearing a pink and blue suede skirt and shirtbwuth matching hat and boots. She blewvtge roof off of that place and the country audiance got to hear that powerful voice and they fell in love.
Years later, Bruce and Donna bought an estate outsude if Nashville and attended songwriters association events and gave a lecture and sang at one - the headliner forbthevefent and it was written up in the papers. Sgecaksonperfirmed atbtge opera house - not the Grand Ole Opre' but the actual and official Opera House. They were also known for throwing partied and cooking and some very famous people would come over and after dinner they'd hang out and jam and sing... wow!
Donna's first step into the music world was a rock band named Crow. She was the
singer, the Crow. Next, she auditioned in NY and got picked for the musical Hair in Germany and moved tgerevandcrecirded Aquarius and White Boys, etc. for the German production. She starred in other musicals until Casablanca Records came calling - the same label as KISS.
