  The only thing I have to say is why did her parents subject her to this???!! They couldn’t find all black dance crew in LA? Ain’t no way I would’ve put my baby through this.  I don’t even know who this young lady is. I’m vaguely familiar with that damn show because of the name.  Everybody failed this baby. I ain’t no way.

  i have comments:<br><br>1. the jungle solo wouldn’t be wild if they had all girls portraying this type of character. nothing wrong with tarzan; it’s the racial undertones it has considering nia was the only one doing these type of dances. it makes me so sad.<br>we all know abby really is racist and she knew what words people use against POC that were included in that song :,(<br><br>2. As a former dancer with curly hair &nbsp;i hated ironing my hair. i had no choice cause in my competition group most of the girls had straight hair and my teachers wanted us to all look the same. i hated how some parents would compliment me only when my hair was like that. one of the teachers once said i was like a miss congeniality once i was prepped for the competitions. that hurt. a parent said that one day i would change my mind about my hair and straighten it for a job because my hair didn’t look professional. hair is a very sensitive subject to me and i feel so bad that nia had to deal with this with such a big audience.

  I don’t like that Holly essentially had Nia in these situations. It does not matter if Nia wanted to or not. She was the adult at the end of the day and she was the one signing these contracts. They try and spin it as as Nia being resilient. There’s nothing resilient about sticking out a toxic situation. It doesn’t make you better or stronger. Sometimes the strongest thing to do is walk away. <br><br>I really hope Nia does not carry that mentality with her throughout her life because it is not worth it.

  I love that you talked about her technique because people will act like we’re defending Nia because she was the best dancer on the team when NOBODY including Nia herself ever said that . but just because she wasn’t Kalani doesn’t mean she was a terrible dancer . she had different strengths than the others that never got shown on TV or was overlooked . Abby continuously gave her 8-year-old choreography even when she became a teenager . she had to seek training elsewhere during her off time just to improve at the same rate as everyone else . &amp; honestly she DID improve a lot by the 7th season but people still saw her from Abby’s lens . she did the same moves as everyone else in the group dances AND she even did a duet with Kalani at some point called the young &amp; the restless &amp; she looked amazing doing it !!

  The amount of Black owned dance studios in LA who would love to have had her. Idk...her parents should have pulled her out. Other opportunities exist.

  it honestly annoys me how much dr. holly refuses to take any accountability for keeping nia in that enviroment. the natty of the jungle solo?! me and my child would have been out before the comp. and GRABBING HER? in no lifetime would i let a racist physically assault my child and continue to engage with them on any level. abby and her studio are the aggressors and the villains in many children’s lives but the fact holly takes no responsibly for subjecting her child to straight up racism and micro aggressions on the daily before there was even a contract in place rubs me sooo wrong. i guess it goes to show how resilient nia is. it’s just crazy her mom won’t even admit it might have been a bad parenting move.

  there is a reason why parents exist. kids are not fully equipped to make the best decisions for themselves. its perfectly adequate to let your kid decide what theyre gonna wear, what they wanna listen to or how they wanna spend a day off, but its not in anyones best interest to let a kid decide whether theyll keep trying to fit into a space that clearly despises them. holly &quot;letting nia choose&quot; is just blame shifting, transferring her responsability as a parent to her child only so she wouldnt have to deal with nias temporary disagreement

  One lesson that black Americans, especially parents with younger kids should take is that it is not our job, nor is it inherently noble to transform spaces that you&apos;re not embraced. I feel like people born after the civil rights act feel that its their duty to break every barrier, and although it can be empowering, its also thoroughly traumatizing being the child who&apos;s living it. We saw that with Nia, long before any Lifetime or Jeff Colins Production came along. I personally would never allow my daughter to be anything &quot;of the Jungle.&quot; <br>I can never hate Holly, because it is tough feeling like you&apos;re letting &quot;them&quot; win, but subjecting your child to racial caricatures, ostracizing, and torment doesn&apos;t exactly feel like a win either. Honestly, I have such an admiration for Adriana, Kamryn&apos;s (season 8) mother who clocked the racism, allowed her child to be upset at her, and made the decision as the adult to remove her from toxicity.<br>As seen with shows like Bring It, we don&apos;t &quot;need&quot; their spaces to be successful and thrive.

  Even as a 4-year-old little white girl watching in 2012, I recognized that Nia was treated unfairly and could tell Abby was racist. I always felt so bad, and when I was little wished I could be her friend just so someone would be genuinely nice to her and back her up.
