Thanks, Ted. Appreciate your take on this wacky situation. With 23,000 employees at the Fed, all we get is BS.

When you have multi-generational manipulation of the time value of money by the fed, what does it mean to go back to a "normal" state? We've heard for decades now that we're on an "unsustainable path" when it comes to the debt, interest on that debt, no spending cuts but greater spend rate, the debasement of the dollar, more regulation, corporatism, more forever wars. When this blows up (and it will) this country will be unrecognizable.

Excellent interview! Mr. Oakley's storm warning about people over 70 owning a third of the stock market is important. A major correction toward the mean--which history indicates is not unlikely--would not only put older people at risk, but will have impacts throughout our political economy. It may well occur in tandem with a reckoning on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid spending. In the background, the question hovers over everything: how long the USA can maintain late-empire levels of public debt across the board. With our dysfunctional partisan duopoly seizing up our institutions of governance, these and many other questions are being ignored, and people are being divided along all manner of sub-national identities, such as race and ethnicity and gender and generation and formal education/credentials and socio-economic class and public vs private employment and region and political party. One thing is for sure: the current circumstances are not sustainable.

Dippers continue to buy becuase for years any drops are immediately followed by a V ramp back up. It will only stop when bounces become smaller and smaller and monthly statements show losses. No reason to sell if your constantly winning plus the inflation that even today govt says doesnt exist is killing the dollar purchasing power.
