@OldMoneyDynasty While I agree with other comments regarding the sometimes out of sync photos and somewhat repetitive nature of some of the photos and parts of the story, I recognize how difficult that must be to coordinate. I applaud your efforts as this was an overall beautifully done piece, and I appreciate all your time and effort to make this magical place come to life with the story. Thank you so much, I hope I can go back one day now that I know so much more about it's history 😊

I think all of them would be proud of today’s Filoli. It is a very special place.

The Narrator said that Maud and Arthur Vincent had no children. They actually had two, Rose and Billy. I met a Rose's grandson at the Empire Mine where I am a volunteer tour guide.

The CIA (Culinary Institute of America) school in St. Helena, California, was originally built by Bourn. Before it became the CIA, it was the home of the Christian Brothers' winery. It is interesting to know that William Bowers Bourn II lost Greystone Cellars in a poker game. In the early 1900s, he was involved in a high-stakes poker game in which he lost the property to a group of investors led by a businessman named Paul Masson. This event is part of the storied history of the winery and adds to its intriguing narrative within California wine culture.

In the early 2000s for the summer stroll events, I organized and performed with 3 other pianists Beethoven's 3rd, "Eroica", and 6th, "Pastorale", symphonies and Dovrak's 9th Symphony, "New World", arranged for 2 pianos 8 hands in the ballroom. It was suppose to be for people to wander into the ballroom and wander out, but chairs started being sat in and we had an obliging audience, many of whom stayed for the entire performance. It was magical. One woman came up afterward and said she cried during the last movement of the 6th symphony, the "Shepherd's Song". It just seemed appropriate to have the lost art of 2 piano 8 hand arrangements playing there.

I need to thank you very deeply for this video. I moved to the Peninsula in 2nd grade in 1952 and was raised in the Atherton/Menlo Park/Woodside area. I moved in and out of the area for a few very short periods as a young adult and left for the last time in 1990. I, like everyone else that lived there, knew of Filoli and knew about Lurline Roth but never about William Bourn. The history of the estate is fascinating! I have driven down Cañada Road hundreds of times but never thought to visit when it was opened to the public. You can bet I will now! Hopefully this summer when I travel out west from Chicago, where I now live, to visit family. What a treasure!!! Thank you!

Personally I’m certain William and Agnes both would be extremely pleased with how their beautifully amazing Filoli led through all our changes in society. William was dramatically called back from England and his education to rescue the family business as his father had died and the huge risk of their family empire financially was soon to collapse. He grabbed the opportunity to make a dramatic change and daring venture in the family fortune and business. He was not a fearful man , he embraced the future and risk taking and what was involved to endure. He is quit pleased from wherever his soul has landed and is aware of his earthly creation and way he chose to view and live life.

Despite being a lifelong Bay Area resident, I only recently learned about this property, because of its wildlife programs. Later I learned about the mansion and grounds. My Mom, stepfather and I were planning a visit there, but her long-term illness suddenly got worse and she died a few weeks later. He followed just a few months after that. I don’t yet have the heart to go without them, it was only three years ago. Our last outing was to downtown Healdsburg, it was nice, but very hot.

I was hoping you would at least mention the gentleman's orchard planted in 1910. Filoli has a cider made from those apples and sells it in their gift shop. Visiting during the holiday season and seeing all the Christmas trees in the rooms of the mansion is fantastic

It would have been great if your room descriptions coordinated with the photos. Instead I saw the ballroom while you described the dining room and saw the dining room while your voice over described the kitchen.
