I guess this movie just wasnt for me. I wasn't going out of my way to be contrarian. Kelsey and I watched the movie and were just like "eh..."

I guess I dont think flashy colors, special effects, and themes of trauma make a movie inherently immune to critiscism

bro isabella does NOT want to get married??? her entire plot is about how she doesnt want to to do that, but does it to please the family. the symbolism is SO unsubtle, with her flowers being 'pretty' when shes pretending to be perfect and them being 'unconventional' when shes being herself.

Im so confused why he thinks getting to know every grandkid is "unnecessary" when the ENTIRE PLOT OF THE MOVIE is how generational trauma affects them all of them individually to the point where they get their own songs. Mirabel's arc involves learning that she's not the only one affected and that there is a bigger issue.

Red hair is recessive. You could have none in your family for several generations and then it pop up out of nowhere

Saying Encanto doesn't have memorable songs is insane " we don't talk about bruno " was literally everywhere for months you couldn't escape it

Well I mean part of the point WAS that the engagement was kind of sudden. It wasn’t a big deal for Isabella because she was just doing it for the family.

In other videos you’ve said “I’m not a film critic” or something of the sort. And now, I believe you.

Isabella's marriage was arranged, she didn't wanted to marry the himbo, that's kind of the point

The grandma being the "villain" is actually more impactful for the story. The movie is about their family, their struggles, their traumas, and their relationships. Mirabel trying to save the house is a parallel to her saving her family. The house represents their family, and the cracks is a representation of their strained relationships caused by their grandma's high expectations, favoritism, and the pressure of being useful to the family/town.

Interesting take. All the problems with the family are meant to be subtle. It's the picture perfect version abuela wants but the closer you look the more you see the "cracks"
