The assumption at Malibu: "The cliff will hold and the beach will remain." But a false permanence and longevity, kind of like Hollywood.

Well I'm from California and they've known that this is going to happen since I was a little girl <br> But the city and state have still continued to build right on the coastline. They have had to replenish sand whenever it has been swept back out to sea they put up big huge boulders to try to stop the erosion. But people with money want to live right on the water so now you're in the water.<br>But some people never learned that money can't stop the the Ocean tides.

50 million is chump change for these people. I don’t think they care what happens to these mansions, they have plenty more houses across the world. And the government bails them out.

I grew up here in the 60s. It was a laid back fun beautiful place to be. Now it's a hideous monster.

A fifty million dollar mansion falling into the ocean sounds like rich people problems. I'd feel worse the trailer someone lives in , in an old trailer park, burned down. People who can afford oceanfront mansions can afford to start over.

I can remember as a young child that California's oceanfront is falling into the ocean! And I guess everyone took it as propaganda, even though it was scientifically proven. The money is worth more than people's lives and the ability to keep people safe and deter them from wanting to build homes so close to the ocean break.
