Very good. "This is representative of the tendency on the part of Homo sapiens to make fun of anything we find to be different from ourselves." Still stands today in how Homo sapiens treat other Homo sapiens different from themselves. Wado!

Let's be real, it's a crime that Benedict Cumberbatch didn't read this. Not only because of how he has said the word "penguins" (and would hopefully continue to do so), but he also probably owes them an apology for that, lol.

I'm sure that there had to have been a meeting, or even a brief chat, about whether or not to have Benedict Cumberbatch read this letter. And either they decided against it, or he did, and probably for the best. I'm sure he CAN say penguins properly, but between the anxiety for all concerned and viewers just waiting for it to happen again, the actual letter reading might have been overshadowed. 😉😊

This letter was written before March of Penguins (2005 film). US needs an updated letter for 2025 to apologize for the tariffs.

I don't want to fondly remember penguins, I want to protect them and our planet so future generations get to marvel at them too.

Thank you for this very accurate letter.  A beautiful reading has been given by Simon Pegg.  Yes, we have truly "opted" to cook our world slowly although that is speeding up.  I, too, wish for more ice (not the American variety) because as a Canadian I  love both penguins and polar bears, regardless of musical backdrops.  Best wishes!

The black and white coloring helps camouflage them while they are swimming in the ocean. If a creature is looking at a penguin from below, the penguin's white belly helps them blend in with the sunlight shining into the ocean from the surface. The penguin's black back feathers help them blend in with the darkness of the depths, when viewed from above. It's why there are so many seabirds, and even so many fish species have dark coloring on the dorsal/back regions of their bodies, and light colors on their ventral/belly regions.

They so missed an opportunity, not using Benedict Cumberbatch.
