Jonah played throughout his career suffering the effects of his kidney problem was only playing at about 75% of his power. Imagine if he'd been 100% fit.

I'm from Wales and support Welsh rugby, but Jonah was an incredible rugby player, revered and loved internationally as probably the best rugby player ever, and a thoroughly decent, kind and humble human being too. It was a sad loss to the world when this great man passed away so young, we all felt the loss..

So glad you reacted to this. In 2015, he was an ambassador for World Rugby and went all over England with the World Cup, where schools and the public could meet him. I was working at Green Park, Reading and the roadshow was right by my office. I took time out to see the great Jonah Lomu, he was so charming. Weeks later, after The All Blacks had won that World Cup, he passed away. I hadn't a clue what was to happen to him. RIP the GOAT of rugby.

The Haka is more than just a warrior's challenge.
Here you see it as a tribute and farewell to a friend.
If you look around YouTube you will see it performed at weddings or students wishing farewell to a retiring teacher. It has many uses and variations.
I'm sure there are other uses but I'm just an old American rugger so, what do I know?

I have just seen this after seeing another reaction to Jonah.

I'm from Gloucester in the UK which is pretty well Rugby territory. Growing up during the 1995 Rugby World cup all the posters weren't all of England stars. It was often Lomu steamrollering over anyone who got in the way.
I didn't "meet" Jonah but I almost literally bumped into him when we were both at the supermarket. Before I realised who he was I was just aware of a presence. I wasn't going to argue over cornflakes with the man so goodness knows what it felt like having to try and tackle him.

Jonah is the REASON why Rugby turned professional IMO..
He was the first GLOBALLY loved rugby player. And he never really got a proper shot at just being able to play rugby. He had to deal with his devastating health problems and sitting in chairs for hours on hours just for treatment.

He was and still is to some degree the standard alot of other great players after and before him aspire to be as a player and also as a person he was off the field.
The TRUE & FOREVER GOAT of rugby 💯
