  I make miniatures and my 1/24 scale display won 1st place at the Tucson Miniature Show this past October! It was a study room of a scientist that collected and taught himself about bugs, mushrooms and bones! I used all natural products - tiny mushrooms I picked in Alaska, owl pellet bones, dead bugs and plant bits I would find while walking around. I am so very proud of it!

  Watching this documentary made me think about my friend,  Brooke Tucker. Brooke was Forrest Tucker's daughter. He was an actor and producer that was well known for his work on the western series, F Troop. When Brooke left acting he became a famous miniature artist. There are 3 books written about her work. I met her while she was teaching miniature classes from her Victorian home in WA. Brooke is gone now but i know she would have enjoyed seeing this...

  When I first saw that it was over an hour in length, I thought, ‘well I’ll only watch a couple of minutes of it’. I enjoyed it so much that I wish it would have been longer!

  My brother and I around 7-12 yrs old build a tiny saw mill and bought balsa wood and we created tiny building materials to an exact 1/24th scale to 2x4’s, sheets of plywood, roofing tiles etc.  even wiring and lights and tiny pipe for plumbing.  We sold those on to relatives who then build buildings from scratch in their train sets or doll houses.  It’s how we made our money

  The real reason that people, wealthy or otherwise, collect things is so they have a story to tell. Humans love to tell stories and hear stories. Miniatures or sm                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    alls are great for people to collect they take up so little space.
