  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWakyvgRL-c&amp;t=432">7:12</a> Its becuase when minecraft wants to spawn a mob it does spawn checks which start at the bottom of the world so it checks one block checks to see if it can spawn a mob there, if its a block it fails and moves to the next block up and continues to do this to world hight so placing a spawn plaform at the lowest point would allow for mobs to spawn quicker as there is less spawning checks to do

  Technically you can beat Skyblock without the chest, but I think without the cobblestone generator is quite challenging.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWakyvgRL-c&amp;t=840">14:00</a> I&apos;m pretty sure the reason mobs can&apos;t spawn near 0 0 is because those chunks are always loaded, since they&apos;re tied to the worldspawn. If you have a server running for 24 hours straight with no players online, you don&apos;t want mobs to continuously spawn at 0 0.<br><br>Technically, I think this only applies to the chunks near worldspawn, and not necessarily 0 0, since many worlds don&apos;t actually set 0 0 as spawn; Martin might&apos;ve misspoke here. In worlds where 0 0 IS spawn, though, this is still true.
