Weatherby used to advertise “zero at 300yds and hold center mass from 0yds out to 400yds”.

I had a ruger m77 stainless in 220 Swift, traded it in 2003, and loved that rifle setup. I am currently using a rifle I've had and trusted for over two decades now, and after trying many different bullets, I've had to change my mind because of its raw performance. The rifle is a Browning 7mm rem mag with a 26-inch barrel launching the 120 grain TTSX at a mind-boggling 3500 fps. Peterson long brass, ramshot grand powder. It is a cannon, and the bullet is a monster on game. Sighted in at 275 yards without having to make any adjustments from zero to 330 yards is crazy. I have target rifles with cool features, but there is something to the belted magnums that feel powerful and slam quarry and paper inside of 400 yards that the new stuff has to take a seat.

 Maximum Point Blank Range

I sight all my rifles in with this method, even with turrets. Most of my shots are under 350 yards, so it works well not having to think much about the shot.

300 WBY! 💪 The original Ultra Mag. I might have pushed a 175 LRX at 3315 FPS and half MOA...

I bought a wildcat. 243 super rc. AKA 6mm 06. Most of the ammo is 25 06 necked down. Some is 30 06 brass. I need to chrono it. Douglas barrel. On a savage 110. Lhb. So far I love it.

I used a custom barrelled 257 Weatherby with the 90 XBT years ago in Africa to shoot the Tiny Ten. Quite often in excess of 400 yards.
More recently I used a wildcat 22-240 Wby with 70gr TSX
Murder on baboons
Last week, here in Australia I used a 6.5RPM with 147 ELD-M to shoot 3 feral animals at 880 yards using a Leica Geovid and a Kenton turret.

12:00 correction: the 308 Super load with the 212gr LRX is going at about 2500-2550fps, not 2200fps

I've had great results with the little 100 gr TSX & TTSX from my 25-06 at up to 3350 fps muzzle velocity. Zippy handloads for sure, but published loads. Makes for a great open country deer load. Accurate and performs great on game.

You can hide the new cartridges all you want but you never take into consideration the advancement in powders, just look back at what Roy had to work with in 1948.

7mm RUM, Docking barrel below 26" creates dangerous & unpredictable pressure spikes.
