This is the sort of documentary you chance upon on YouTube, but when you do stumble across it, it's well worth it. Great documentary

77 was a great year. Got fired, saw iggy w. bowie, blondie opening up for that show, sparks opening for patti smith, moved out west, came back east to toronto, just packed! rocker friends wouldn't mix with disco friends wouldn't mix with punks so i had all these sets of friends who wouldn't mix. now, thanks to those times, eveybody mixes.

It's weird how when NYC was bad, parents let their kids stay out late to play and now that NYC is clean, kids aren't allowed to stay out after dark

It was a frickin amazing time! I was 20. I lived in Newark but I LOVED Manhattan. Cultures & sub-cultures, the partying ( I was a drummer & DJ), the pharmaceuticals, the women, nightlife/daylife, Windows on the World. We used to take field trips in grammar school to the museums, and I'll never forget coming out of the Lincoln Tunnel onto 42nd St in the 60's. It was so ugly and so beautiful at the same time. So very urbane & hip & pimpy. It was the song Shaft before the song Shaft! Manhattan is too expensive now though....but I still love the memories.

Our family business was on 19th Street. A guy who worked for us got arrested looting during the blackout and we teased him all summer for actually being one of the few who got caught!

In August 1977, I was just starting kindergarten. Our teacher wrote on the board the date, Aug. 23, 1977. Can still see that classroom in my mind. We also learned that day that our president was Jimmy Carter, which prompted some of the kids to start singing, "JİMMY CARTER -- HE'S A FARTER!" Ah, memories.
