I’m American and lived in Paris for 6 years and outside of Paris (Poissy). Those were some of the best times of my life. I’m originally from NYC so I guess this is why I loved Paris. Big city with beautiful things but also problems. My arrondissement was le 18ème (Rue Marcadet). Loved it. I’m probably going back to retire there. ❤🔥❤. The key thing is if you are American don’t go to Paris and act American. Understand and respect French culture. This is a great video.

Best advice ever: ignore or report misleading videos. Merci beaucoup.

I was in Paris for a month two years ago. I lost my wallet. Not pickpocketed, lost it. Someone turned it into the police, and the prefecture shipped it back to me in the US. Everything was still there; cash, credit cards, driver's license. Also, I might add that the Paris police have an excellent website for this sort of thing even if you don't speak much French.
I had heard that one shouldn't ask for an English menu in a restaurant because the prices are higher on it. So I never did that. Clearly, servers knew I was American, but no one ever hustled me. I knew enough French to order from the French menu with a lot of pointing.
Only once did I run into a situation where no one spoke English. Everyone from bartenders to servers to G7 drivers to shopkeepers spoke English.
I lived in the Marais, walked my dog at midnight, and never had any problems.
I live in a small Southern American town, but I did live in NYC for 25 years when I was younger (back in the '80s), so Paris was a piece of cake. Very beautiful and delicious cake.

I’ve visited Paris perhaps 10 or so times over the years, often solo. Can’t think of a time I felt unsafe. For a free museum, I highly recommend a visit to the Musée Carnavalet, especially on your arrival day if you’re looking for a way to push through your jet lag. Then relax and soak in the building’s stunning architecture in the adjacent, sprawling outdoor café. The museum is in The Marais, so it’s easy to continue your day with more culture/history, window shopping, a meal, etc. Merci for another thorough video @Lucille !

I'm born and raised in NYC. It's a great training ground. The scams out here (mostly in Times Square, obviously) prep me for going anywhere and everywhere, lol.

"Don't eat in touristy areas" is great advice. I took a trip to Paris last December (to see the Christmas villages and the lights) and I ate at a nice neighborhood restaurant not far off of Blvd Haussmann. They greeted me very warmly when I walked in and then had to search around to find the one English-language menu - that's when I knew I was in the right place! (I can read enough French that it wasn't necessary, but I appreciated the thoughtfulness) Every other customer that walked in was greeted like a returning friend and it was a very nice atmosphere. The food was wonderful and the experience was very welcoming!

Merci beaucoup! 🇫🇷❤

Paris has always been my favorite city. Like every place, there are pros and cons (I'm from NYC, there are some definite highs and lows here), but I never listen to what people say, I form my own opinions, and I will always love Paris.

Yes the "France" has fallen thing is so bogus. I had a friend of mine who was scared about a protest and I sent her a video from Les Frenchies who live broadcast from the protest and all the hysteria and hype wasn't true!
