I just got my first leopard gecko. It's been a long time coming I really wanted a giant but I fell in love with this boy at my friends reptile store.

Today, I added new artificial succulents and rearranged the greenery already in my gecko enclosure. Jolene came out to the middle of the enclosure and watched everything I did. Every time I moved something or added something, she went over to smell it and lick it. She watched every move I made. I wasn't expecting that; I thought she wld hide. It made my heart smile. She seems to like the changes.

11. Not all leopard geckos like being pets.

This may be more of a 10.5, but it’s true. Some leopard geckos just do NOT LIKE being handled… or looked at… or being visible to people. I have a wonderful classroom gecko, so I decided I wanted a second. He is what I term a “ghost gecko” - he hates interacting with me. Five months in, I had him finally accepting food from tongs… and then I had to move his tank, and now I’m back to square 1. I have barely handled him because he dislikes it so much… he was 2.5 years old when I got him from a good breeder, and it looks like getting him comfortable with being a beloved pet may be a long term project!

My leopard gecko is just like me. Wants to explore but on his own. Whenever he sees that anyone can see him he goes back to his hides.

I just rescued a leopard gecko and I’ve been doing as much research as possible, this video was much appreciated . The people I got him from told me to do the exact opposite of everything you’re supposed to do. He looks malnourished underweight in a tiny dirty tank. Very upsetting but I’m doing my best so thank you for the help!

I grew up with a leopard gecko who i remember with so much love. she always loved being handled, every time id open the top of the cage, shed climb on top of her hide and look up. She would arch her little back if i pet her back and she loved being on my families shoulder. We fed her wax worms as a treat once a week and thankfully she never really grew picky or anything like that. She was also pretty docile, only really spooked/moved quickly if a loud noise happened or during hunting.

I just set up my tank for my first "independent" pet (Ive moved out of my house for college) and this little guy is so active! I only have a humid hide, a half log and a water bowl at the moment, im going to get maybe a bark/log (i forget the name of it, its like a piece of wood thats kinda big and natural looking) and a few suction cup leafage maybe. Im also having some trouble with the heating pad I was recommended by the reptile center i got him at. (setting goes from Low to high but intructions mention temps and im like "how am i supposed to correlate this together??") so im gonna get a thermostat to measure the temps, and it turns off the pad when it reaches set temps!
Im calling him "Monster" right now but honestly i love the fact hes super cute but with a name like that, so i may keep it.

Thinking about getting a leo once I get a job/internship. Hearing about their personalities make me very happy, I love it when animals act like that :)

Omg that 18-month thing scared me so freaking badly. I didn't know that was a thing, and now that you said it, I remembered when my leo was a baby and did that. I was looking to buy another and saw this video 😂
