  A huge reason for this is the Northo-centric history taught to Indian students since 1947. We learn about obscure people like Razia Begum and the Lodhis and some slave dynasty while giving short shrift to the Cholas, Pallavas, Hoysalas, and Rashtrakutas.

  Sri Sanjeev Sanyal has (or as expressed in public) a clear picture of the Geography of India &amp; hence, what is bugging India for a millennium at least. It resonates well with a point of what William Dalrymple made/said in his lecture-tour across India. India has &apos;no strategy&apos; with no base in its Geography

  I have to say that while Mr. Sanyal was very eloquently answering questions, the host was constantly changing directions with his questions, so much so that it seemed that we are listening to multiple sessions stitched together. Why don&apos;t just stick with a topic and at least ask two consecutive questions or even a follow up?

  India&apos;s maritime geography is very advantageous, but not a single Indian port is in the world&apos;s top ten. China has 8 places, with Shanghai top. India needs to develop its ports if it wants to become a major trading power.
