  I love the irony when building the infrastructure in Minecraft to save time, but the amount of time taken to build would be longer than the time you actually save by using said infrastructure in the entire playthrough.

  you can add tripwires, observers and redstone lamps at each interval, so the whole tunnel will lightup as you go forward
