  I prospect the North Saskatchewan river in Alberta and we have nothing but flour gold. Miners moss and fine V mat is the way to go! Lots of cons but definitely a gold trapper.<br>Thanks for another upload, love the videos! Keep up the good work

  I think most of started out buying similar sluices to this because of the cheaper price, but quickly realized what a PITA they are to use and clean out. <br>Just like you I was always shocked how much material was left over and had to be panned, but because of them and other sluices it made me create my own product, so I owe them that 🙂

  I&apos;ve used that folding sluice for prospecting in Iowa. &nbsp;Same situation where I eventually opted to replace the multi-layer matting with a single sheet of V Mat. &nbsp;The biggest drawback from the folding sluice is the setup and disassembly; I figured that I wasted about 45 minutes between the two. &nbsp;Cleanup was also a huge time sink, and as you mentioned, you&apos;re not really getting CONs here; you end up with more blond sand than black. &nbsp;Compound that lost time with the fact that it takes another half hour to set up because of its length and fast water requirements, and you&apos;ll find out that the sluice isn&apos;t saving you any time over straight panning. &nbsp;One other thing that I didn&apos;t like is that the hold-down screens are SHARP AS HECK! &nbsp;I was constantly scratching myself during cleanup. &nbsp;The folding sluice might be good for nugget-bearing, fast-flowing rivers, but for flour gold, it&apos;s not worth the hassle. &nbsp; I eventually gave up and purchased a 34&quot; multi riffle one-piece sluice from ASR that I like sooo much better; you can slap it down in the creek and be running in a couple of minutes. &nbsp;Cleanup is also quick and easy (though the base doesn&apos;t fit fully into a 5-gallon bucket...what were they thinking?!?). &nbsp;That said, it&apos;s 100x better than the folding sluice and improves my efficiency drastically over straight panning. &nbsp;Time is valuable, so don&apos;t waste it on an inefficient setup.

  Very informative video and great editing too!<br><br>I almost bought the same sluice, but the reviews regarding the setup time and unexpected folding problems steered me toward Royal Manufacturing’s folding sluice instead. Some comments here purport ~45 minutes for setup and tear-down for the cheaper sluice.<br><br>The way I look at it, the amount of time and money I would have spent Jerry-rigging the cheaper sluice = might as well just invest in a more reputable brand. My sluice came with an additional head-attachment to allow for a recirculating / pump setup too!<br><br>However, I could have just gone with a rigid sluice instead, but the versatility of a folding sluice is fantastic!<br><br>Other things to note about these sluices is that the large brass riffle crossbars can be removed and you can just use the expanded metal screens over top of your miners moss. This is great if you have low-flow or if you’ve already classified your material down to 1/4” or less.<br><br>Haven’t upgraded the carpet on my sluice yet, but now you’ve got me thinking! 😂 <br><br>Happy prospecting!

  The price of this 50 inch is actually real great which allows you to have a solid structure for your mods. I really like it. What I loved seeing on your video was seeing the flow of the water with those screws sticking out. Such great videos you do.

  It was nice to see this test. &nbsp;Thanks for doing it. &nbsp;About a month ago I pulled the miners moss and riffles out of my 36&quot; vevor sluice and replaced it with green deep groove. &nbsp; I always wondered how it would have done if I left the miners moss and riffles in it but you just answered that question for me. &nbsp;I feel the time saved on cleanup is huge. &nbsp;Thanks for another great video!

  Maybe make the third section have quick release pins for when you don&apos;t need all the length.
