We moved here six years ago. This video has validated our decision. We love living here.

It never ceases to amaze me that we can have this network of lakes that are more like oceans, all connected and that connect to the Northern Atlantic and the Gulf, and people just shrug their shoulders. This is one of the most incredible regions on the planet. It's very special. Every bit as beautiful and special than anything else you'll see in the world. I've lived all over the country and even overseas in the tropics and I always come back to the Great Lakes. The change of seasons here is magical. Beautiful autumns lead to harsh but beautiful winters, that give way to a burst of life in spring, and generally mild, amazingly green summers full of wildlife. When you live in places with one or two seasons you miss that transition. The winters make the summers so much more special.

The land of my grandparents. They built the first hotel in Copper Harbour, and owned the first car dealership in the UP.

The UP was part of our Honeymoon back in Aug. 1978. We camped in the Porcupine Mts. State Park on the shore of Lake Superior, and went up to Copper Harbor as highlights.

I went last year by myself and had a great time. It was a 12 hour drive and it was worth it.

Calumet, MI resident here! Right in the middle of the Upper Peninsula's Keweenaw Peninsula. Old mining town with life still left in it. Low cost of living coupled with endless natural beauty makes living here worth it despite the winters.
