  Good to hear that the “skippers” were drinking well, before trying the inlet. Hate to think how badly things would go if they had been drinking poorly.

  See the similarities of the Port Everglades inlet and Haulover. The northern side of &nbsp;both are wide beaches and southern starved of sand. &nbsp;Messing with nature.

  Left out.... TWO huge factors.<br>-Over crowded vessels.<br>-Bow heavy vessels with too many passengers on the bow.

  When I was a little kid, there was a pier , Haulover pier there. &nbsp; That place was incredible. &nbsp; I love fishing, and have since i was a wee lad. <br>Once, &nbsp;i caught an octopus. &nbsp;It was huge! &nbsp; I swear it was the size of Godzilla ! I didn&apos;t know i had it until i looked over the side of the pier. &nbsp;I was struggling to get it up. &nbsp;I was fighting it as it was fighting Mothra ! &nbsp;I wasnt sure what to do. &nbsp;I was 10 after all, &nbsp;i wasn&apos;t sure i was going to make it till 11 years old. &nbsp;What if i lost the fight and the octopus ate me? I never wrote my last will and testament. &nbsp;I had a Hot Wheel and Matchbox car collection i wanted my foster brother to get. &nbsp; I had to win! &nbsp;I pulled and pulled and got it over the rail only to discover it was bigger than i thought. &nbsp;It&apos;s legs were grabbing everything ! One leg grabbed a plane out of the sky ! Finally, &nbsp;in the interest of saving Florida I cut the line. &nbsp;Down the Octamonster went, &nbsp;taking the bucket it was stuck to. &nbsp;As soon as it started was as quickly he went back into the water to grapple with the US nuclear sub fleet. &nbsp;<br>I was 10. &nbsp;<br>I miss that pier

  Sounds like the perfect situation for YouTubers to video boats going in and out of the inlet. Someone out to set up a channel.<br>I’d watch.

  I&apos;ve spent 65 years on the ocean in boats, surfing, diving. &nbsp;What I see everytime I watch Haulover inlets is, pilots do not know the ocean. You have to know tides weather conditions, winds peed, wind direction and most of all your boat. Not all but most of these pilots just lay on the throttle and blast past. We had a nasty narrow inlet on the Eastern end of Long Island, Shinecock. Entering was just like Haulover but upon entering you are always adding power cutting power depending on waves lengths, current, wind...man these videos are scary.

  Why dont they put a break wall that you need to turn to get out or go around? Wont stop tides but will lessen waves.

  All they have to do is not go through when tide is against wind. &nbsp;<br><br>Wait up for a few hours and the peak waves that cause all the dangers will die away.<br><br>Or risk wrecking your boat, and dangering life.
