Because people aren't as old as I am, they often miss that "There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar/Not a single luxury/Like Robinson Crusoe/It's as primitive as can be" is lifted straight from the theme to "Gilligan's Island."

It's backwards cause they're backwards. But the amazing part is how Al filmed this. He learned how to mouth the words backwards. Then he walked backwards while the buggy went forwards. Then they reversed the footage. Al is an insane genius. No wonder he grins here.

RIP Florence Henderson. My favorite joke is when he says "I'm a million times as humble as thou art..." which is, in fact, the exact opposite of being humble.

As a amateur musician what people miss a lot is the fact that Al and his band are gifted musicians. They can jump from folk to grunge to hip hop to polka. Every single one of them is gifted

Part of Al's greatness is that he doesn't just parody the songs, he also parody's the videos. Coolio's hair, the guy at the end of Gangsta's Paradise sweating as he sang, the whole chair in the dark room scene. Amazing!

Florence Henderson (Brady Bunch Mom) as an Amish Michelle Pfeiffer is 100% my favorite part of this whole video.

This is one of the only parodies that Al didn't have permission to make due to a miscommunication between Al's people and Coolio's people. Al was told that Coolio had green lit the parody... and had the album produced before he found out that Coolio knew nothing about it. In later years Coolio stated that he regretted making a big deal about. Once he thought about it he was like "Coolio, who the f—k do you think you are? He did Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson didn’t get mad."

This is one of the few songs where the original artist didn't give their blessing. Coolio has later said that it is something he regrets. Rightly so because being parodied by Weird Al is a great honor

As someone who grew up in a literal Amish Paradise, I can say we absolutely LOVE this song!!! I actually am Mennonite, but my great grandparents are Amish. And I have several Amish neighbors. Let me tell you what, these are the absolute kindest people you will ever meet. They work hard, give harder! And Amish Hymn Sings are absolutely amazing.

True story. My mom who was born in 1920, told me of a story her father had related to her. He was born in 1875. He told her that when he was a young boy, well, around 10 or 12 years old, they used to sneak near the door to a shop and hide down near the ground so they could catch a glimpse of a young woman when she'd step out of the store. They always had to lift up their skirt a couple of inches in order to clear the threshold so their clothes wouldn't get dirty. The boys would thrill at the chance to just catch a glimpse of the girl's ankle. No joke. This really was a thing back then. So yeah, these boys looking at a centerfold just to see some girl's bare leg would be a huge treat for those boys given their sheltered upbringing. They really are living in a time vault.

Also the reason you should watch Weird Al's "Nirvana spoof" is because Kurt Cobain loved it. Kurt Cobain said he knew that he had finally made it when Weird Al wanted to spoof his song...Kurt knew exactly what Weird Al had in mind for the video. So he introduced Weird All to the same director and camera man that shot Nirvana's "Smells Like teen Spirit" video. And they actually filmed at the same location, and used all the same extras in the back ground....
