  Spicy take: I remember when Cassie first came on the scene, and a bunch of mouth breathing men IMMEDIATELY claimed her, for no reason other than her body phenotype. They were very overtly loud and gross and borderline threatening towards her, and instead of defending her, most progressives and feminists just sorta.....stayed quiet, until she &apos;proved&apos; her leftist leanings enough for us. Instead of immediately turning the scrutiny on those male fans, the discourse from the jump was &apos;is she, the target, provoking those male fans?&apos; And frankly, that felt like a very tired and not ok misstep from us feminists. Frankly I don&apos;t CARE how much bathwater she sells, or nude ads she makes, or creaky voiced monologues she preforms, NOTHING excuses the behavoir of the men who continue to see her as anything other than an object, a political token they can gesture towards and say &apos;see? she&apos;s hot so she has to be Republican!&apos; And we seem to treat the men who do that as just a given, a thing that will never change, and put ALL of the pressure of our collective discomfort with that on the women who become their objects. So, frankly, I am tired of the &apos;Sydney Sweeney discourse&apos; because I feel like we all could have done better in how we talk about her. <br><br>P.S.-I DO however want to as loudly as possible!!! condemn the messaging of that American Eagle ad. It was vile and 100% racist!!! Whoever came up with that tagline (and I highly doubt it was Sweeney) is despicable. And Sydney DID have a moral responsibility to not participate in it.

  hii, im new here! loved the video, i got to know your channel from the doechii video in a research i was doing to make a video on how the male gaze shapes women in and outside the industry for a collage essay. i fell in love instantly with your channel, it inpires me a lot, specially that you have more of a filmesque style of recording your videos which is really different from these types of video essays and it made me think that im able to do it too.<br><br>as of sydney, well... thats a hell of a case. i&apos;ve also done my deep dive on her scandals for my video as well and the conclusion i got is that maybe she didn&apos;t necessarily want to appeal mainly to the maga audience in the first place, but she did choose to go in that direction bc she saw a quick profit out of it. what she didn&apos;t expect was that leaning exclusively into a male audience that&apos;s just there for her looks wasn&apos;t gonna be a lifelong support for her career, and mixing what you and what i also said, this audience don&apos;t care about supporting neither art or merely a woman in control of her own career. of course her movie Christie would flop!! like come on, have we not seen this before in other ways??<br>the sad part is that she once was really just a young actress trying to make her way up without needing to do couch tests or anything, but this route was not it. she didn&apos;t create the system, but she chose to navigate it this way. and as soon as she saw that people wouldn&apos;t ignore it, that she wouldn&apos;t do facist propaganda without the midia noticing, she went all out, and it didn&apos;t go well. i honestly think things started to go off the rail when she did the bathwater commercial.<br>anyway, i really hope to see you grow and get the praise you deserve bc i know how hard it is to put up a video like this! keep doing it queen!

  She has said she knows she’s on a time crunch and is capitalizing on the money and opportunities. So she is aware of this limitation to contorting herself for the male gaze. At the same time though she chooses a lot of indie roles so most people don’t know her for her acting. And tbh I think it’s affected her acting. I feel like her most recent characters were pretty “Cassie” in how they behaved and came across, at least to me. And I feel like acting is where her real passion is and so she’s really working against herself. I’ve always loved Megan Fox, especially when she spoke up and demanded more and got fired from Transformers (which she was carrying on her back). I can’t give Sidney Sweeney the same grace especially as the industry is much different now and she is not some fresh faced 18 year old
