Is Jimmy a movie you're looking forward to in 2026? Do you think it'll portray Jimmy Stewart and his role in WW2 in a credible way? Let me know!

I have always been a fan of Jimmy Stewart’s acting, but a little over 20 years ago I read the book “Jimmy Stewart Bomber Pilot” and he became my biggest hero (aside from my father). Around 2007 I was fortunate to have a conversation with Kim Novak who co-starred with him in Vertigo and Bell Book and Candle. When I told her that I was a Jimmy Stewart fan she lit up like a candle. She said that if there was anyone I could admire without being let down it was undoubtedly Jimmy Stewart. She told me that not only was a great actor and a great person, he was a true gentleman. She said that he mentored her and was endlessly helpful to her as a relatively new actress and never once did he ever act inappropriately towards her. She told me that she was one of his biggest admirers also. In my opinion, Jimmy Stewart was one of the greatest people of “The Greatest Generation”.

My dad was a navigator in the 445th, in the 700BS, from formation to well after D-Day, and he always spoke very highly of Jimmy Stewart. He was the real deal.

My grandfather was a young man in southern California during the late 1930s and, being a rather handsome blonde haired blue eyed fellow, picked up occasional work as a movie extra on sets around Hollywood - one of which involved an encounter with Jimmy Stewart.  Following Pearl Harbor he signed up for the Naval Aviation Cadet Program and became a highly decorated Naval Aviator in the Pacific where he flew off the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9) with another Hollywood star turned combat aviator - Bert DeWayne Morris.  After the war, my grandfather returned returned to California and later ran into Jimmy Stewart at a corporate function.

It is our duty in responsibility to hold Hollywood accountable if they're going to portray real names and real units it needs to be accurate. It's a disgrace and Despicable how they twist things or embellish things when with a little bit of effort it can be portrayed accurately good or bad

I knew a person whose father had been a tailgunner on a B-24 during World War II. He actually knew how to land the plane. The B-24's pilot taught each member of the crew how to land the aircraft, having them take turns helping him land the bomber. He used to joke darkly that he would always be there at takeoff but couldn't guarantee he would be there to land the plane. 😉🇺🇸

You are so correct to focus on details!! AI Slop documentaries this year are infamous for inaccuracies, combining AI mistakes and human producers not caring.  Thank you for caring about facts.

What you neglect to mention is the fact that after WWII, Jimmy went into the Air Force Reserves.   He rose to the rank of Brigadier General, stayed current in flight duties, and flew missions over Hanoi during the Viet Nam war off of Anderson AFB, Guam.  As with a lot of pilots I've known throughout my own Air Force career, I have to believe that in the final analysis, he loved to fly.  He was a pilot first and foremost.  A bomber pilot, a true American hero.

I completely agree. Sloppy CGI is a major distraction that really pulls me out of the experience. It’s frustrating to see such avoidable technical inaccuracies, especially when they could have been corrected just as easily as getting them right. You’re spot on—attention to detail is the least they can do to truly honor the history they are depicting.

I spent 25 years in film art departments and worked on many big WWII and Vietnam projects. There were many occasions where myself and our team had to battle for authenticity, some of those fights were lost and some were won, but at the end of the day if the production designer can't convince the producers and director then it will be out of our hands. In my experience both art departments and costume departments always research and push for complete authenticity, it's part of our job.
