My wife and I will be in the 80% of spending coming from guaranteed income, as well as a substantial portfolio at the age of 65. It’s nice to have that income floor. I highly recommend.

Got a relative that didn’t save much but had a pension. Pension + his and wife’s social security paying $84k a year rest of their lives. Not too shabby considering no millions

When to take Social Security is 100% dependent on your health! My parents died before they collected a dime. If you are sickly, don't wait!

My uncle was so concerned about taking SS early, but it was ridiculous. He had stage 4 lung cancer. He needed to retire way earlier than he did. You need to enjoy life. Yes, his wife would have gotten less after he died, but they never got to enjoy time together.

But also look at family history. Men die in my family young, but both of my Grandmas lived/are living well into their 90s. My husband's dad is living well into his 80s. As long we stay healthy, we will wait until 67. But if we get sick, all bets are off.

I was laid off a year ago at 54, after saving aggressively for 25 of my 30 working years. I have a broad mix of income and investments, some available now, some in 4 years, and some not available for 10 years or more. I have no intention of going back to work, so yes, every withdrawal feels like a pinprick or mosquito bite. Honest Math says I'll be fine, but I'm still too young to just declare that's how it will turn out. Especially when you doomscroll YouTube for economics. I still ruminate over every penny spent, wondering if it was worth it.

I waited until 70 for SS but had a pension that started at 60. And I took funds out of my portfolio to cover the 10 years. Glad I did. MY portfolio is larger than when I started due to the crazy growing market and I have higher guaranteed income. So I’m comfortable and feel like I did the right approach. Still have trouble taking money out of the portfolio. RMD will hit at 73 and take care of it.

You should really consider including some example scenarios fir single people. In today's society there are a ton of people that are single when it's time to retire.
