Since she was basically the one that set the tone for the helmet casting a shadow over Hermes’ eyes, Ximena having the helmet pop off his head was SURREAL. In a fun way, though. I love it 🤣

I love how when Hermes brings out the windbag, every creator chose to make him pull Odysseus close. For how nonchalant/silly he is, he truly does care about Odysseus since he's his kin. I just think it's really sweet!

 Mortius: "Any mythological basis?"
Me, who has studied mythology in uni: "MY TIME TO SHINE"
Someone else already commented on the "Odin being a name for Hermes," which is the first time I'm hearing that as far as I can remember. HOWEVER, one thing that gets used quite a bit in mythology is how connection between "blindness" and "foresight". To tie back to Odin, He gave up an eye, nd had it put in a well of knowledge he got to drink from. Something that lets him literally keep his eye on things there (in some interpretations). Or how prophets, like Thiresias, are usually blind or have their eyes covered. Their sight having been exchanged for a different sight altogether.

I went back through the animatic, and all the times we get to see one eye from Hermes behind the sunglasses is when information/future events is being revealed/hinted towards. And yes, I'm including that for the "so you're the one who talked to Calypso", because that is still a revalation, even if a self-explanatory one, so Hermes doesn't say anything. One exception is the time he uses one-eye stare to intimidate the sirens/harpies into buzzing off. Other than that each time is Hermes divulging knowledge whether through hints or seemingly blatant statements (even the "Open this bag and you'll never make it home" came true in its own way, seeing as consensus is that it's no longer the same Ody who returned after the bag got opened). Though with the last "one eye" being Ody stepping up to the challenge, I'm leaning towards classifying it with the first one as "Hermes being impressed by his grandson.

.... That or it's all a nod to artists hating to draw "the other eye"

22:54 - Something I've heard is that Hermes is sometimes depicted with his eyes being shaded. This is because the eyes are the "gateway to the soul" and since he is a trickster, he doesn't want others knowing his intentions/true self. So some people take the "shade" and turn them into "shades". Not sure how accurate this is to mythos, but this is something I've heard a few times (and personally agree with)
(That and of course, TROY wearing glasses whenever he's Hermes)

I’m sad y’all missed in Scilla’s that when ody takes the windbag he starts to cry as he clutches it and that’s why Hermes hugs him

14:50 Glad to see there are still people who remember that Sirens have wings and aren’t just “totally not just a mermaid”.
