  I do believe this is what is what Henry Purcell would have heard in his day. It's an 'acting' voice, a mix of raw chest voice with falsetto, switching between the two when required. Also a great characterful face!

  Never have I heard such an intense and deep interpretation, the singer's sensitivity to the nuances in emotions, the ensemble with such pure and resonant sound! It's incredible!

  Je ne parle pas un mot de français et j'ai dû faire appel à un traducteur pour laisser cette critique, juste pour dire que c'est probablement la meilleure interprétation de cette pièce que j'ai trouvée. Sérieusement, personne d'autre n'a communiqué la froideur et le désespoir dans la voix de la poésie aussi bien que cet homme l'a fait pour moi ; cela m'a ému le cœur de presque ressentir la douleur de l'homme mourant et gelé dans les paroles de la pièce. Un grand, grand, grand bravo !

  Le meilleur fausset/falsettiste ("contre" diront nos contemporains - contra tenor altus) : le passage (le saint Graal) est une merveille, il ne détimbre pas entre tête et poitrine !! Sa discographie (Virgin Classique) est extra et est à l'origine de mes plus belles émotions musicales <3 <3 . Il m'a fait adorer ce genre intimiste que sont les cantates. Aucun chanteur, en voix de tête,  n'a cette rondeur, profondeur et expressivité dans les aigus : cela fait résonner mon cœur et mes entrailles. MERCI à lui :) .
