  I think a big problem is that too many people are on the apps out of boredom, not because they want to date. &nbsp;They are bored on a Friday night and scroll.

  Boomer here - I feel so sorry for the younger generations. &nbsp;In my day, dating was fun and exciting. It was completely organic; it always began with personal attraction. &nbsp;The guys were to do the asking - the girls would hope for a (land line) phone call to be asked out for a Saturday night date - usually a movie and a burger. &nbsp;The guys always paid. He picked us up at home, met our parents and drove us home just before the ‘curfew’ time. If we really liked each other there might be a quick goodnight kiss and the girl’s door. &nbsp;Absolutely no sex was even an issue. If you began to see each other regularly, he might ask you if you wanted to ‘go steady’. &nbsp;If she accepted he gave her his class ring, which she wrapped in fuzzy &nbsp;mohair, and he wore hers on his ring pinkie finger . All it meant was that we each dated no one else and could count on your ‘boyfriend’ to take you to school dances and Prom. Unlike in ‘Grease’ it had NOTHING to do with sex! &nbsp;So innocent and sweet and natural. 1964 grad. 🙋‍♀️💕

  ⌛️ I wish there had been some discussion about dating when you are much older, as in &quot;AARP older&quot; because there are a LOT of us out there.

  Guys, let me warn you, especially men: don’t use any methods for attracting women or anything like that. My ex-boyfriend used some Velqxy Method, and instead of attracting a girl, he attracted his stepmom.

  Read her book “how not to die alone” after reading it I got into a healthy relationship and so did a few people I know. It’s life changing ❤

  Ohhh my word, that title had me clutching my imaginary pearls and whispering “Luise, sweetie, don’t you dare start preaching in these comments,” because goodness, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about finding and keeping real love, it’s that it has absolutely nothing to do with those dramatic rules people shout on the internet and everything to do with the tiny, unglamorous moments that sneak up on you. Like one time I was trying to be all productive and romantic at the same time, cooking dinner while answering emails, and I somehow managed to burn the rice, over-season the chicken, and set off the smoke alarm, and I’m standing there like “Please, universe, not today,” but instead of judging me, he walked in, took one look at the chaos, and said “Sweetie… want me to order pizza?” and I swear my heart did a cartwheel. That’s when it hit me: true love isn’t about perfection, it’s about someone who sees you in full gremlin mode and still chooses you. It’s about communication that doesn’t feel like a hostage negotiation, productivity that doesn’t turn you into a stressed-out robot, and two people who can laugh through the nonsense together. So yeah, if you want to know what it takes, it’s not mystery, manipulation, or pretending to be cooler than you are. It’s honesty, softness, consistency, and the ability to say “My bad” without turning it into a three-part documentary.
