WOW One of the best Kennedy Center Awards. So many great stars and so many great songs that have become part of our life. (Hard to imagine all these years later that Trumpty Dumpty wants to put his name on the building that brought out all these great, great people!) BRAVO  And since then we have had two more major revivals of CABARET and that ‘new’ run of CHICAGO is still going strong! (2026)

Both Cabaret and Chicago transferred into smash hit multiple Oscar winning movies. That is actually highly unusual for musicals in the modern age. Cabaret was beaten to Best Picture by The Godfather despite winning 8 Oscars including Best Director and Actress, the most Oscars ever won by a movie that didn’t also take the top prize.

I was in my early 20’s doing Woman Of The Year and in rehearsal John & Fred called me over to the piano and started playing a song they wrote and said, “Greg, what do you think about this?” At the time I had no clue how big these 2 were (I was young and dumb) and how casually they just pulled me aside to ask my opinion on a musical song or line they wrote. I don’t remember what I said to them but I’m kind of glad I didn’t know because I might have acted like an idiot.

WOW!!! I had to watch this MULTIPLE times in order to determine, what I think about Chita upstaging Liza. Well, she did. Chita incorporated both her arms and legs on those eight counts!! She, "stomped" on the downbeat, and did Fosse side arms, and she was, "brighter," both vocally and physically.

Wow!  Chita was 64 when she performed at this award show and she looked great.  I saw her many years later in A Dancer's Life and she was still going strong!!
