I’m 77 and remember my grandma made a lot of these. We never knew the difference.

I&apos;m reluctant to mention this. &nbsp; But it is important. &nbsp;Grandma paid almost nothing for energy by comparison to today. &nbsp;Think about that before you turn on an oven.<br>Also, Grandma EXPECTED to spend her entire days at home. &nbsp;A working woman would shrug at spending so much time on things that only save pennies.

Excellent video. This is exactly the lifestyle we all need to be living today. Cooking and baking from scratch, preserving our own fruits and vegetables, and making as much as we are capable of. Keep the great video’s coming.

Gen X here I wish we can go back in time to lower prices, cheaper gasoline, and foods that cost less than $1.00. I miss the times of where I could spend $35-40 dollars for 2 weeks of groceries. Rents were $200 a month and mortgages were $500 including property taxes. A new car cost $7000 and used cars were $1500. Those were the days.

My grandmother raised her kids in the 1920&apos;s to the 1940&apos;s. I was born in the 1960&apos;s. The video is weird. My mom rarely did any of these. She was born right before the Great Depression. She wasn&apos;t any good at managing money because she got passed around and refused to learn those skills. I learned most of these on my own.

Boomer here...one of my grandmas was very frugal and did many of these things. &nbsp; The other grandma was so proud that she could afford not to.

I make my own laundry soap, bar soap and have used baking soda for toothpaste for years. I have used apple cider vinegar for hair too.

Why do people keep telling us to mix baking soda and vinegar? One is an acid and the other is a base, so the fizz you see are the two neutralizing each other. Mix the baking soda with hydrogen peroxide.

When baking use applesauce or mashed beans to replace oil. A 1-1 ratio. Example 1/4 c oil is replaced with 1/4 c applesauce &nbsp;or 1/4 mashed canned beans. If your cake is white use white beans. Chocolate use black beans.

I do a lot of these as hobbies. &nbsp;I also turn apple scraps into vinegar. &nbsp;Yes, we can buy these things, and they used to be cheap. &nbsp; But pennies saved over time become dollars.
