As a cheese maker in France we made butter too, but we soured the cream for two to three days before making the butter. This gives it a much more intense flavour, for both the butter and the buttermilk. The buttermilk was used as the starter for the cheese. All of our butter was pre ordered by our regular customers.

German here. Isn't it wonderful to know that the most satisfying in life is all simple? Real bread, real cheese, real butter, real wine etc. Plain, hand-made by masters of their art, a delight and a joy to experience. Just like true love.

Love how you took every measure not to splash buttermilk everywhere...then you splashed buttermilk everywhere....real kitchen life. Love the videos chef keep making them.

However stressful life gets, it is a wonderful thing to remind ourselves that butter exists. Butter makes things better.

It was hilarious to watch how much effort you took to keep from splashing the buttermilk, only for it to splash everywhere.  All cooks suffer the same consequences, but making your own butter is worth it.  Thanks for this episode.  Nothing tastes better than homemade butter.

I find using the whisk to turn it into whipped cream and then changing to the paddle attachment to finish it into butter.... The paddle is easier to clean the butter off BUT more importantly, saves the whisk attachment from bending which can be an expensive bit of kit to replace.

I "got to" churn the butter, with a plunge churn, once at my Gram's house.  That convinced me packaged butter was a really great deal.

My child used to go to a school where they teach all kinds of life skills like sewing, woodworking, and cooking. One day I found a block of butter in my fridge. When I asked where it was from, my child said “I put cream in a jar, closed it, and shook it for 30 minutes”. It was the best butter I ever tasted, and I buy the most expensive butter in the store!

I bought a butter churner off Amazon and I’ve started to make my own butter, and it’s great. It takes 10 minutes.

I’d like to have seen a blind taste off of all three butters, especially from the staff tasting in front of boss and butter creator ;)

You can make butter by simply shaking some full fat milk for a while, something I did in school now 45 years ago! I can still remember the golden butter start to form and clump within the whey.
