Society truly has no concept of what 30 looks like. Every time I told someone I was 30 (now 31) they were shocked and said they thought I was 25. When I was 29, nobody had anything to say. Just hearing 30 makes people lose perspective.

i started university when i was 23, and it was insane how many 18/19 year olds were “complimenting” for not showing my age haha like what are 23 year old supposed to look like lol

"You don't look your age" well actually, physically, factually I do!

People on tik tok are shallow, they focus on how attractive you are/how much money you have and then they treat you accordingly.

As a black woman we have a huge obligation to look younger than our age. It’s a lot of pressure because a lot of us don’t age as quickly. But for those of us who do, they get extra scrutinized. You should see the comments about Vivica Fox. She’s almost 60 years old and people are actually freaked out that she looks her age. SMH

When i was 10, when i was 20, i don’t remember my gen shaming 30 year olds. I don’t remember being that age conscious at all. It is NOW that the obsession with 30 year olds and aging is totally ridiculous and callous

Yea I think it is actually so creepy that people think even 20s are “old.” I’m sorry are we supposed to peak in life at like 16?? I honestly felt like I wasn’t fully independent and running my own life til I was close to 30. Just seems like patriarchy bullshit and women hating on themselves with all their internalized misogyny

So I had to take antibiotics every 4 months from age 12 to age 19, but when my body finally beat the cycle of infections I was struggling with it turned out to have ruined my skin barrier and microbiome or whatever. I broke out all over my face and neck with painful, cystic acne for years after. I tried everything under the sun to reduce it because of how painful it was. People would stop me in public places to lament about how beautiful I would be without the acne or what a shame it was that I had so much acne - total strangers, stopping me at places like Walmart to give me skin care advice while I was just trying to buy a gallon of milk. So this whole "just wash your face every day, just moisturize with coconut oil, just use this retinol" movement is, from my firsthand experience, fucking bullshit and I hate it. There are so many reasons someone can't easily control their skin health. Lay the fuck off.

What gets me most about these people telling her what to do is that at no point did she ever express discontent with her skin
