  I see what she’s saying. Completely. But I think the confusion is coming from conflating forgiveness and reconciliation. We absolutely have to forgive those who aren’t even repentant. Jesus said “father forgive them” as they were still nailing Him to the cross, not stopping. That’s completely different than relationship restoration. We don’t have restoration without repentance, same as God does for us.

  Alisia and Allie are making forgiveness more complicated than it is. “You have to have a heart posture of forgiveness but don’t forgive them until they repent.” Uhm, what?

  Carrying unforgiveness is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die!<br>Matthew 6:14-15<br>Matthew 18:21-35<br>Mark 11:25-26<br>We forgive as obedience to God NOT OUR FEELINGS!<br>When you do forgive as an act of your will whether they repent or not, God gives you grace to love and pray for them. &nbsp;Also, God deals with them now. &nbsp;I&apos;ve lived this.

  When you’re dismissing Christ’s forgiveness on the cross as a prayer, you miss point of the significance, maybe undermine, the cross. Simply put, Christ did forgive those who hung him; He ‘let go’, ‘releasing’ of His vengeance towards these people and humbly trusted God the Father to deal with them. This is exactly what forgiveness is. <br><br>This is why forgiveness came first, so that we can understand fully the measure of God’s grace towards sinners.

  Forgivingness and reconciliation. &nbsp;Forgiveness is our part with or without the other person. &nbsp;If we don’t forgive the Bible clearly states our Father cannot forgive us. &nbsp;Reconciliation involves 2 or more people. &nbsp;All sides repenting to one another and under the power of Jesus, mending or reconciling the relationship. &nbsp;If we say we don’t forgive, we put ourselves in a place of judgement. &nbsp; When Christ said “Father forgive them” it wasn’t their sin, it was their actions. &nbsp;They didn’t know who he was.

  I had a friend who had two 10-month pregnancies, all healthy. &nbsp;By the time she was pregnant with her last child, doctors informed her that medical research suggested that this was no longer safe, so they induced her. &nbsp;She said that that induced labor was the worst labor experience she ever had. &nbsp;It was much more painful with the induction. &nbsp;She is 78 years old. &nbsp;All of her children are healthy.

  Alisa is wrong. God bless her.<br><br>But there are unknown sins and future sins that Christ has forgiven us for that we dont even know. He even died for us while we were yet sinners, before we sinned or repented. <br><br>Repentance is important. And our hearts should desire reconciliation. But you do not need a person to repent before you can forgive them. If we are to love like Christ, we love others even while they sin against us and we forgive because we are forgiven and in the condition (unrepentant) where the cost of forgiveness was paid by our Lord before we even knew we were guilty.<br><br>I think this is an example of when trying to be too deep gets you tangled up in knots when the safest way out of a mess is simply to admit you may have gotten this one wrong. This was a bad take. But I love yall both in Jesus name! 🙏🏾
