This morning at Mo Chit - Low-lying areas downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam are beginning to feel the effects of increased water discharge and heavy rainfall over the past few days. Four districts in Chai Nat province have already been flooded. Water levels in the Chao Phraya River basin are expected to rise continuously after heavy rainfall in many upper areas. The Chao Phraya Dam is maintaining its water discharge rate at 1,950 cubic meters per second for the second consecutive day to accommodate the water mass from the north and reduce damage to economic areas downstream. In Chai Nat province, four districts have been flooded. If rainfall continues, the water discharge rate will likely need to be increased. Heavy rainfall in the area has also caused floodwaters from Uthai Thani province to inundate homes and farmlands in over 7 subdistricts of Han Kha district. More than 200 households have been affected. Some roads are heavily flooded with fast-flowing water, making it difficult for small vehicles to pass. The Han Kha district chief revealed that 7 subdistricts have been flooded by water runoff from Wang Man subdistrict in Wat Sing district and Khao Raw Thian Thong. This year's water levels are higher than in the past 2-3 years. At Huai Nong Rong Reservoir... Water is continuously being drained as announced before being released into the Tha Chin River. Public announcements have been made advising residents in flood-prone areas and low-lying regions to move belongings to higher ground. It is expected that if rainfall continues in the next 1-2 days, the flooding will definitely spread to more areas. In Singburi Province, low-lying areas in Chi Nam Rai Subdistrict, In Buri District, have been flooded by the overflowing Chao Phraya River. Fifty-five houses in Villages 1 and 2 have been affected. Residents have moved their belongings and livestock to temporary shelters along the Maharat Irrigation Canal. Meanwhile, officials from Chi Nam Rai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, in coordination with the Royal Irrigation Department and the Singburi Provincial Administrative Organization, are urgently constructing a 200-meter-long earthen dike along the Bang Chom Sri Canal and installing water pumps to prevent the water from spreading to other areas. Separately, Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, visited the area under the Bang Rachan Bridge in Singburi City to inspect high-risk areas where bridge construction is underway. The province and Singburi Municipality are urgently constructing a dike to close gaps, which is nearing completion. Mr. Paradorn stated that today will be the last day that the rain clouds will be in the central region. Before moving westward, close monitoring over the next 1-2 days is necessary to see how much water flows into the Chao Phraya Dam. If a large amount of water flows in, it will be necessary to increase the amount of water released downstream of the dam, resulting in higher water levels. Therefore, the public is urged to closely follow news updates. As for long-term solutions, the government is preparing to push forward large-scale drainage canal projects: Chai Nat-Pa Sak and Pa Sak-Gulf of Thailand, expected to begin in fiscal year 2027. Similarly, in Ang Thong province, officials are urgently installing concrete barriers along a 2-kilometer stretch of the Chao Phraya River on both the economic zone and government center sides.
