Judy Garland sang this with a child’s optimism.  Eva sang it with an adult’s melancholy.

This is my favourite version of Over the Rainbow. Losing Eva so young was such a loss.

This is THE BEST cover of this song ever. I don’t think anything will ever touch it

I'm a cancer (x3) survivor. And every time this woman opens her mouth, she crushes my heart... 💔💔💔

Thank you for talking less and listening more. When you are witnessing greatness, silence is golden.

Please listen to her Autumn Leaves and Fields of Gold. Unsurpassed. What a tragedy to lose Eva so early in her life.

This recording session of 12 songs was done on January 3rd 1996 at the Blues Alley in Washington DC! In June of that year she was diagnosed with cancer and on November 2nd she passed away! Two years later this song was played on BBC Radio and now she has sold over 10 million albums! When she sang this at the Blues Alley I can only imagine she must have been thinking of all the rejections and disappointments she had experienced trying to get her music recognized! She recorded music and sold CDs from the trunk of her car! It goes to show us all how great talent can be missed and ignored, while mediocre talent sometimes makes it big! Eva was 33 when she died! Her parents have done a great job keeping her alive through her music! All 12 songs from this recording session are great!

We played this at my mother’s funeral. Eva Cassidy was one of her favourite artists. It’s so bittersweet to me now.

RIP, sweet Eva.  John, please listen to her Autumn Leaves and Fields of Gold, even if you don't do a reaction.  For yourself.  You won't be sorry.

Eva is one of those once in a lifetime voices.  I'll never forget hearing her for the first time.  I was at a friend's house and he was playing her version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.  I was walking down the hallway and literally stopped dead in my tracks.  I was utterly spellbound and couldn't move for like 30 seconds.  It is violently unfair that she was taken so soon and that her global fame didn't come until after her death.

I must have watched this 100 times,  and it still impacts me like the first time i watched it.
