  I live in La Paz, my wife is a multigenerational colonial native. The cultural experience is chill, international ,sophisticated, young and vibrant. The FREE concerts on the Malecon, Carnival, Day of the Dead, founders days ""491 years!!"", the locals have money, young population, traditional Colonial family values.    It is like no other place in Mexico..I thank God every morning for blessing me with such an incredible place I call home.

  Excellent and pretty accurate description of all the Tourist Beach cities you covered. I am an American Citizen born in one of Mexico's most dangerous cities, Tijuana. I have visited most of the Beach cities you described and the one that stands out and saddens me the most is Acapulco. It was such an amazing place to visit. I love Baja California Sur. Have driven all the way to Cabo many times. The degree of danger in many places in Mexico has definitely increased because of the cartels and corrupt police. Mexico needs to take a lesson from La Paz to keep crime and corruption out. Mexico has the potential to become the most visited country in the world AND... A World Power Nation.

  Bacalar is amazing! I spent 10 days there alone & didn’t feel unsafe. I also went to Campeche. February is a perfect time to go. Water is amazing!!!!’

  Cancún is popular among European tourists too. The travel agents never make them aware of the dangers. Quite the contrary.

  Chiapas also has nice beaches, but slightly less scenic than Oaxaca, but just as safe.  I spent five days in Puerto Arista, Chiapas, and it was incredibly cheap.  It's only good for the beach, but the slope is very gentle, and so there is very little rip current, but also not that much surf.

  PDC has clamped down on the unlicensed vendors this last spring. I live there six months a year and it’s true that the sargasso is bad bad bad this year, but I’ll see what it’s like come November. I’ve never had any trouble with the cops, or violence, and use a bike to get around town. There is a way to avoid taxis now too as they are often a complete rip off. One of the reasons that expenses have gone up there is that the dollar is way down against the peso. Almost 20% since T took office. Winning is expensive.

  I agree, Progresso is wonderful. Great restaurants; however, Chelem is a short Uber ride away and is a beautiful and quiet Gulf of Mexico beach town with lots of live music.

  I lived  minutes from Playa Del Carmen for many years and was there when Cartel was fighting over territory, drove through to get there a couple times a year 5 days on the road and once through most of Mexico 17 days on the road. And, lots of this is true and some worse then the video shows.

  Very informative, but ... if you were to do a shot every time the word "genuine" or "genuinely" is used here, you'd be genuinely hammered by the halfway point.
