For anyone coming here because of the mess that was the definitive edition, the draw distance was beautiful in this game, it made it a instant classic. The orange tint was perfect with the low polygon models, also the environment shines with nostalgia, making the game feel right at home. I’ll forever love this version.

I will never understand why Rockstar ditched the "Californee" lighting on every other system. It really gave a "90s gangsta movie" vibe.

Even when GTA 6 comes, GTA SA still will have a special place in my heart

The minimum draw distance and the fog makes the small map feels huge and epic. No wonder later versions felt cheap than the original which was indeed running on dated PS2 hardware

The PS2 version is my favourite because of the amount of nostalgia I have playing it. The bright orange sky really adds to the aesthetic. Plus unlike the newer ports, every one of the original songs are on the radio.

Loved the atmosphere and look from the original ps2 version over the definitive edition look like the orange haze and heat wave fits san sandreas greatly and the fog as well and all the other goodies that remain intact and not removed like license music

PS2 is the way to go. Despite the controls being outdated. It's far from unplayable. I loved this game back then and had a blast on PS2. Now a days though it's hard getting this game...yes emulation is easier and that's what I'll probably do because while PS2 is great. Those OG consoles are hard to get right with 4K TVs. I know you can get a PS3 but with the PS2 compatibility it's not that cheap and gotta look around. PS2 emulator it is then.
