  When I was new in the car business many years ago, I told a young couple that the car they wanted really wasn&apos;t a good idea. It was going to be a huge strain on their finances and probably bring them more stress than happiness. They went to another dealer and bought the car.

  As a former finance manager, can’t count how many times I wanted to not do the deal because I knew it was going to be an disaster for the customer… but I wasn’t a financial advisor

  He never answered the question, if he has ever told a customer it&apos;s not a good idea to buy one of his cars. &nbsp;The answer is no, he would never do that.

  The sad part is that when I was a teenager I really wanted a Lamborghini (Diablo, at the time), like really-really wanted one. I was absolutely obsessed with supercars. Played all the video games with them, researched all their specs, etc. Now that I&apos;m in my 40s and can easily afford one, I no longer want one. It doesn&apos;t excite me anymore in the slightest. Life has a cruel sense of irony sometimes.

  I dropped my car off at a Acura dealer to get my airbag recall fixed and they informed me it would take an hour. &nbsp;Across the street was a McLaren dealer so I saw a nice way to kill some time. &nbsp; So I walked over and just started walking around. Thinking I was in shorts and a t-shirt, I probably wouldn’t get bothered, but I had salesmen constantly coming up to me. &nbsp; One of them was really cool and we just started talking. &nbsp;I told him about my car across the street and he asked what kind car. I told him it was an RDX ASpec and he was “that’s a nice car”. &nbsp;I eventually asked him why I was getting so much attention. I don’t look like I can afford a $250K and beyond car. He told me the guys that come with the fancy suits and nice watches that look rich, usually don’t buy anything. &nbsp;It’s always the guy in shorts, hats and t shirts that end up buying because the people who are pretend to not be rich are usually the richest ones, especially in the Silicon Valley.
