感谢早报的报道，60 年后我们才真正知道真相。当时还在小学的我，只知道马来西亚联合邦成立了，然后新马分家。这些政治角力的不流血政变，今天才清楚。当然还要真正感谢那几位元老为新加坡做出独立的选择。

Our success is real, so are our struggles. Malaysia leaders did not want us to stay in the federation, so we were indeed "kicked out" (in the minds of these Malaysia leaders) .. whether the terms "break away" or "separation" were adopted. We were out! And thank goodness we were out! Happy National Day!

当然分离是经过协商和程序来进行，比较明显的是水供协议，不是一朝一夕。这不需要教授来解释
