  “The guy who shot Arch Duke Frans Ferdinand gets rescued by a supervillain and then forms the Illuminati” is the most comic book thing to ever happen

  I think it's appropriate that Cap's only weapon is primarily defensive,. A shield can be used to attack, but it's main purpose is always to defend, just like Steve himself.

  Great vid but disappointed you didn’t talk about the first Captain America versus US government story: HIS FIRST APPEARANCE! That famous issue where he punches a certain German someone came out almost a full year before America entered the war, back when the government was fully isolationist and even had an American Fascist Party. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, as Jews, called the government out for not living up to its ideals, and they got DEATH THREATS for it.

  Cap saying &quot;Come and take it&quot; about his shield goes insanely hard.

  &quot;I have shown you where the shield is, make sure you&apos;re on the right side of it&quot; goes INCREDIBLY HARD

  &quot;Those ideals, those SIMPLE ideals, of dignity and freedom and equality for ANYONE and EVERYONE - Those are Captain America. Those are the things that this country was made to stand on. And if anybody tries to tell you differently, regardless of how much power they might have, they are standing on the wrong side of the shield.&quot;<br>Goddamn, that was good.

  Pre Pearl Harbor some American Nazis showed up to the offices of Timely Comics wanting to beat up the creators of Captain America. &nbsp;Jack Kirby told them he&apos;d be right down. They left before he got to the ground floor. I love Jack Kirby.

  Fun fact! During the Civil War event, Wolverine describes the Superhero Registration Act as &quot;making all of us super-cops&quot;

  At my local No Kings protest today someone in full Cap garb with the shield came through and everyone cheered.

  As time passes, I fear that Cap and this video subsequently become more and more necessary… God bless everyone, stay safe, and stay smart.

  I really used to think that Cap was a one note USA representation, but it’s so much more and I appreciate creators like you teaching me the deeper ramifications. I actually quite enjoy characters that are written with real world ideas in mind, and its great to have that message articulated. Seeing a hopeful character at a time like this in America is especially nice
