Sprawa Megan Boswell: Bezwzględne kłamstwa matki i tragiczny los małej Evelyn

In the winter of 2019, Sullivan County, Tennessee, witnessed one of the most shocking and disturbing criminal cases in recent US history: the disappearance and brutal murder of 15-month-old Evelyn Mae Boswell. For over two months, no one outside her immediate family knew the child was dead, while her 18-year-old mother, Megan 'Maggie' Boswell, carried on as normal, weaving a dense web of cynical lies and deliberately misleading law enforcement. It wasn't until February 18, 2020, that the girl's grandfather, Tommy Boswell, notified social services, reporting that no one had seen the child in over 60 days. The following day, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued a nationwide Amber Alert. Instead of cooperating with police, Megan began to offer contradictory accounts: first, she claimed the child was with her father, Ethan Perry (a soldier stationed in Louisiana), then with her grandmother, Angela Boswell, and finally with a caregiver. Meanwhile, Angela and her partner, William McCloud, were arrested in North Carolina in a stolen BMW. When investigators requested a polygraph (lie detector) test, Megan told television cameras that she was pregnant and therefore unable to take the test—a claim the sheriff immediately debunked as fabricated nonsense. On February 25, 2020, Megan was arrested on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. The horrific climax came on March 6, 2020: following an anonymous tip, investigators searched Tommy Boswell's property and discovered little Evelyn's body, wrapped in aluminum foil and hidden in a garbage can in a shed inside a child's playhouse. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be asphyxiation, which occurred around December 10-11, 2019. The tragedy sparked widespread outrage across the country and led to the passage of "Evelyn's Law," requiring missing children to be reported within 24 hours or face severe penalties. In February 2025, a jury found Megan Boswell guilty of all 19 charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, one count of child abuse, and 11 counts of making false statements. The court sentenced her to life in prison (minimum 51 years) plus an additional 33 years, meaning she will not be eligible for parole until she is 74. The Sullivan County crime and the unprecedented criminal trial in 2025 highlighted the need for immediate response from emergency services and law enforcement in cases involving missing minors. The "Evelyn's Law" law permanently changed American law, imposing strict criminal penalties on guardians who conceal the truth from the police.
