I know this is a college football show, but I’m lowkey more upset at Klatt for his take on March Madness being trash tbh

Klatt is operating under the premise that we have a true playoff for college football, we don't, we have an ESPN made for TV invitational.

Watched Klatt for four years now growing up in BIG 10 country and Pate for 8 months ever since going to an SEC school. Love the overlap now! Klatt is more reserved on his own show (because it is owned by FOX), and I now hope he does what Pate did and buy his own show. Brutal honesty from gentleman like Klatt and Pate is what college football fans, coaches, and players all need. At the end of the day, as someone who watches both of the shows religiously, they agree on about 95% of everything they talk about on their shows. We need more guys like these two to continue challenging the current system and push for a better state of college football.

Josh, I agree with you that you are independent. I disagree with your feeling that you’re not biased. You have your biases, like everyone else. Cinderellas in football look different. They look like Indiana, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt. You don’t want to see Cinderellas, but here they are dancing while you sing a different tune.

One big point here that I do not agree with: "If someone starts to make a run, they'll get raided."

Ok, sure. They'll get raided after the season, but that means they'll get to finish their run that year!

It doesn't mean smaller teams CAN'T have success, it just means they won't SUSTAIN it.

Remember when The Onion proposed expanding March Madness to 4,096 teams...

You’re saying Cinderellas could never happen again in football because teams just get raided of their players and coaches. So why not instead of lying down and accepting that, let’s add rules to the transfer portal? Add contracts to players so they have to be bought out to leave. Add a max number of transfers a school can have in an offseason. Add poaching fees so schools can get paid for their players even if they weren’t under contract (drop in the bucket for P4 but helps out G5 tremendously).

All these things will give us the best of both worlds where we kind of go back to our roots of college football and how important recruiting well is while also giving players power.

Tulane beating USC in the Cotton Bowl in 2023 with Caleb Williams having a Heisman-like game would be more applicable. If I recall correctly, USC was in the 4-team playoff race until the final week, and no one opted out of the bowl game except for injuries. Of course, Tulane had Michael Pratt and Tyjae Spears who stayed at Tulane for 4 years.

Perhaps at some point a power 5 will win the first round. To win 4 increasingly tougher games in a row will never happen in our lifetimes.

They would get more attention for the quarterfinals by having an upset.
