A full 20 minutes before we get an up or a down. I was starting to worry that the Muppet episode had broken Seán for good!

When they mentioned the ship was close to the warp threshold, my husband and I started chanting "LIZARD TIME!" lol We knew they weren't going to become lizards but you can't reference the warp threshold and not expect somebody to bring it up.

I think you may have missed a call back in Cetacean Observations. After La'an melds with Spock and gets the data, she tells Scotty that the data is coming from Spock's memory. Scotty replies that he trusts a Vulcan's memory more that a computer. This reminded me of the scene Star Trek IV when Spock tells Kirk he had to guess. When Kirk is okay with this, McCoy tells Spock Kirk trusts Spock's guesses more than other people's facts.

I feel like this whole episode is an origin story for the dermal regenerator.

My trilithium UP is the single tear running down Pelia's face at the end, so proud to see Scotty finally getting it... 🥲

So far I think this is the best episode of the season.

As a disabled person I side with Chapel, no matter what M’Benga said no dying patient wants to be left alone, its only the healthy who actually believes they would want to be

This was the most straight up Star Trek episode of Star Trek in a long while and I loved it. Tense, gripping, Pelia given some actual dramatic stuff rather than a 'say something funny!' context, Scotty starting to get what he's good at, and the final moment between Spock and La'an was terrific. Also 'eyes on the skies, lieutenant.' was a lovely grace note.

I took the ticking clock, split screens, isolated people groups, to be a “Trek does 24” reference.

The heroics of the bridge crew is off the charts in this episode. Pike, Spock, Una, La'an MaBanga, Christine, Scotty, all willing to die to save the ship and their fellow crewmembers. This was true Star Fleet in this episode

The redshirt that tells Scotty he needs rest is the same redshirt that Bashir and O'Brien encountered during Trials and Tribbleations
