I stalked the neighborhood with my U.N.C.L.E. attaché case looking for Thrush agents, and I think I spotted a few. They always got away, but to this day I’m positive a couple of my neighbors were double agents. Loved that show sooooo much.

When I was a kid I loved both The Man from Uncle and Secret Agent...both were awesome!

You left out the ultimate spy effort born in that era, a true classic, Patrick McGoohan's "The Prisoner."

I was about 10 years, and I loved The Man from uncle as a kid. It was a nice change from cowboy type shows. 😊

I had a Man from Uncle pen, which included an invisible ink cartridge.
It took me weeks to save up for it and I used to go to look at it in the shop window. Ah, those were the days.

As a teenager in the 60s I watched every episode. It has just started a re-run of the complete series on Talking Pictures TV here in the UK. Takes me back to happier more innocent times.

As a kid watching U.N.C.L.E. I got into a fight with the local bully and found myself in a position to karate chop him across his back like in the show and as I triumphantly turned away thinking that's sorted him I caught a crashing blow from a huge right hand and never believed in karate again.

Secret Agent was called Danger Man in Britain and came out in 1960 before James Bonds first appearance in Dr No in 1962 or even U.N.C.L.E. He also introduced himself as "My name is Drake, John Drake" which Bond did later i.e. "Bond, James Bond".
Ironically in the US version called Secret Agent has a song which the British didn't, but in the song part of the lyrics are "They given you a number and taken away your name". Which what did happen in Patrick McGoohan follow up series to Danger Man, called The Prisoner. The Prisoner was on ITV, and the last series of the Man From U.N.C.L.E. on the BBC where going head to head on a Friday nights.

When the remake happened in 92 I was amazed how well Vaughan had aged, I thought he must be ancient! McCallum appeared as The Invisible man in a TV series so I was used to how he looked.

It wasn’t just boys that played “Man from UNCLE” running around their neighborhoods. Boys AND girls spent many hours dodging around hedges and - our favorite game - tying our cousins up with a ticking alarm clock “bomb.” The best thing about the show was how much it sparked our imaginations to play in a way kids just don’t seem to anymore. Can you imagine feeling safe enough to crawl around your neighbors’ bushes with toy guns after dark?
