I'm not some experienced buffer or anything, and had never seen a star shaped wheel like that, but it makes sense given how quickly plastic melts, and heat builds up when buffing.

I’m not sure which type of arbor to go with to transform my bench grinder into buffer. I need an arbor that will allow me to put on 3 inches wide two together stitched cotton. I’ve seen some with the washer and nut and other arbors that are pointed with ridges, I don’t know what would be better for me

Would this work with the normal stone wheels, which are heavier?

A good extension to add is a 1/2” UNF threaded shaft which will take a 13mm Jacobs chuck…useful for holding wire wheels,burrs, grinding wheels etc
