HIFU: las zonas de riesgo que toda especialista debería conocer | Anatomía y seguridad

Do you really know what structures lie beneath your transducer before performing a HIFU treatment? This is an actual lesson taken from the Punto Vellísima Academy International HIFU/MMFU Master Course, and I decided to share it in its entirety because I believe this knowledge should be fundamental for any specialist working with focused ultrasound. In this lesson, we construct a three-dimensional risk map. I don't want to show you a face painted red and green so you can memorize where "yes" and where "no" are acceptable. I want you to learn to reason: AREA → PLANE → STRUCTURE → RISK → DECISION Because beneath the same area, depending on the depth and individual anatomy, there can be: nerves, blood vessels, fascia, muscle, fat, glands, ducts, periosteum, and bone. During the class, we analyzed regions such as the temporal, periocular, preauricular, masseteric, mandibular, and submandibular muscles, and you'll understand why a nominal cartridge depth doesn't automatically guarantee anatomical structure. We also discussed something that is fundamental to me: safety doesn't mean memorizing forbidden areas. It means understanding what structure might be present, what its function is, what anatomical margin we have, and whether we can truly justify depositing energy there. This lesson belongs to Module II — Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics Applied to HIFU. Within the complete training, we study the path from physics to clinical decision-making: • ultrasound waves, frequency, and propagation; • focusing and formation of the proximal convoluted tubule (PCT); • biological response and tissue remodeling; • anatomical layers and depth; • SMAS and fascial system; • fat compartments and ligaments; • muscle, movement, and biomechanics; • facial nerve, trigeminal nerve, and vascular anatomy; • three-dimensional risk mapping; • Aging assessment; • Informed selection of transducers; • Dosimetry and conscious treatment planning. I want you to be able to explain what underlying structures may exist, what you want to influence, and what you need to protect before doing so.
