Schumaker, Prudhommee, Shirlwy Muldowney, Don Gartlits were the first names I'd ever heard of about drag racing when I was a wee lad in the 70s. My favorite was Tom Hoover.

When "Sponsors" were Sponsors to have their names on cars and didn't control the Drivers unlike today..... I envy any Team that can go it independent.
